My only criticism is a Fender/Squier issue really that the plastic film 'protecting' the chrome-work and pick-guard is a devil to remove. I am still yet to remove the final piece on the floating trem :( It will need patient care with acetone to fully remove it. It looks the bomb tho and the quirky tonal circuits of the Jag I haven't quite fully explored yet.

Well, I pulled the trigger on a purple FSR CV 70's Jaguar. Here's an objective review: I have 12 electric guitars ranging from a Les Paul Standard through American & Mexican Fenders down to an early Squier CV50's Telecaster, so I'm able to make a fair comparison. Firstly, I have to say The Chinese built Squier CV Telecaster is a great guitar & my only issue was getting used to the (slightly more D shaped than I was used to) neck profile, so I'm not trying to "bash" Squiers. After I opened the box on the Jaguar I first had to remove the plastic film from the control plates, scratchplate & pickups. All well & good but the film on the tremolo plate seemed to be thicker & stuck down so hard that it took me over an hour scraping with my thumbnail & some "sticky stuff remover" to get it off, and I had to remove some of the screws to get the bits that were stuck in the countersink holes. After that I noticed that the lead circuit volume & tone knobs were very tight. They seemed to be forced down hard on to the plate. When I rotated them to try and free them up it caused the whole volume pot to start rotating on the plate. So the knobs were removed, the pots were tightened on to the plate and the knobs replaced- which sorted that problem. I left the original strings on at first but they felt very matt/rough (possibly cheap strings or starting to corrode), but when the top E snapped at the ball end while I was polishing up the tremolo plate I replaced them with a set of D'Addario 9.5's which made a great improvement to the sound and feel. There was no suggestion that the strings had been properly intonated originally, and I had to do a full intonation after I'd put the 9.5's on it, but that's only to be expected after a change of string gauge. Neck curvature was pretty much according to Fender specifications but I gave the truss rod 1/8th turn clockwise after I re-strung it and I'm waiting for it to settle in. The Mustang bridge on these Jaguars has to be adjusted for height using a small allen key (not supplied) in the holes at each end. As a matter of personal preference I finished by setting the string height & pickup height to Fender specifications as they were not quite where I wanted them. While I was making all these adjustments I noticed that three of the screws holding the scratchplate & control plates had been screwed in an angle but after removing & re-seating them only one still looks a bit "wonky". I'm not suggesting they will all have the issues that mine had but considering the guitar comes with an inspection card stamped by 2 employees for setup, finish, electrics & "final", I would say that the quality control on the indonesian guitars is not as good as the Chinese ones. Having said all that, it is a £380 guitar, after spending two hours setting the guitar up properly I am pleased with the result. The finish on the neck & body is good, the neck profile is very "Strat" like and not too chunky and the binding has a very subtle "rolled" feel and is comfortable to play. Oh yes, and it looks cool and sounds great !
