Product Description

One of Blackstar’s biggest successes has been their HT amplifier range. These affordable, tube-driven tone powerhouses have been incredibly popular with bedroom players and touring musicians alike, acclaimed for their versatility, ease-of-use and robust build-quality.

The HT series defines that “plug in and play” mentality that all of us guitarists seek. And with their updated MKII series, Blackstar have kicked everything up a notch!

Improving upon an already brilliant formula, Blackstar have catered for their loyal users’ requests and added a raft of new features. Including a footswitchable boost, professional recording outputs and multiple voices/modes, these amazing-sounding amplifiers boast even more functionality and tones than ever before.

Versatile Tones

The HT MKII clean channel now features an American/British voicing switch, to really let you find your favourite tonal flavour. The American voicing offers a tighter and more responsive clean, with a brighter top-end sparkle. The British voicing delivers a “chimey” and more open-sounding clean, which becomes grittier when you crank the volume.

The overdrive side of the amp essentially has two channels. Sharing the same EQ section, each channel has its own voicing switch that lets you tweak your sound and have a wider palette of tones. Each channel also has its own independent gain and volume controls, letting you perfectly set up rhythm and lead channels!

Footswitchable Modes

All of the modes on the MKII series are footswitchable, resulting in the widest possible selection of stage accessible valve tones. The supplied 2-way footswitch enables the selection of the clean and overdrive channels, and the two voices on each channel.

The optional FS-14 5-Way Footcontroller enables instant access to all channels and voices, plus the global boost function and reverb switching for maximum control of your setup. The boost adds more volume when you need your solos to really punch through the mix!

Power Reduction & Professional USB/XLR Recording Outputs

The power reduction feature allows you to turn down to 10% of the amp’s rated power. This ergonomic addition makes these amps perfect for practice, so that you can get all the tonal goodness from your HT MKII amplifier at a lower volume.

If you love recording but hate setting up mics, or just want to record at home without hiring a studio, the MKII amplifiers will have your back. Featuring convincing-sounding recording outputs, you can record directly into your computer or interface. This means that you can enjoy the HT MKII’s valve tones without compromise.

Studio-quality reverb

The MKII amps now boast an improved and natural-sounding digital reverb, letting you spice up your tone when you just want some vibe. Use the switch on the rear panel to select between ‘dark’ and ‘light’, if you want a more subtle or brighter spring-style verb.

Great amp, and plenty of tonal options. Loads of connectivity. Looks the part and is fabulous value for money. Most importantly sounds great and covers a wide range of music from clean to almost metal. Might have been a 5/5 except the recording volume is very low, just like my first Blackstar 20w amp head, and just like that this also crashes Reaper, not as much but still does, and it also seems to have an issue with OBS too were it shows up in OBS but no sound! I am currently emailing Blackstar about the issues but I am not holding out for a solution because had the exact same issues with my first Blackstar amp. That one got repaired by Blackstar but still having issues since. So can't recommend their amps for recording, unless using a mic in front of it, as the amp itself is very loud. I tried the line out with a Focusrite and still recording volume was very low, so not a USB-only problem at least. It's a pity, great amps otherwise.

The amp is well built but not as good in terms of depth of sound and tone as my Blackstar HT Stage 60w combo. This I think is due the lack of the Resonance option which I rate highly. I bought the Head because it is much lighter than the combo which is very heavy.
