Product Description

The Sire M2 is an instrument that was designed solely for the most modern of bassists. Although more affordable than its bigger brother, the M7, the M2 still features a powerful set of humbuckers that offer huge tones.

The M2 Version 2 is fundamentally the same as the original model. However, it now features rolled fingerboard edges to provide extra playing comfort, giving it the feel of a high-end bass!

Construction

The body of the M2 is formed from Mahogany, meaning that you can expect a rich and deep low end-tone. Also projecting a vibrant mid-range, this tonewood serves as a great foundation for the punchy-sounding pickups.

Paired with a bolt-on Canadian Hard Maple neck, this type of construction and material adds some crucial snap. Giving notes plenty of top-end bite, you can be sure to cut through any mix!

Electronics & Hardware

The Sire M2 Version 2 features a pair of potent-sounding humbuckers, delivering a thick tone with lots of grunt. If you like to play heavier styles where an overdriven bass sound is required, these humbuckers will dish plenty of dirt!

Featuring the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp, the amount of flexibility that the M2 Version 2 offers is unparalleled at its price-point. With a volume/tone dual pot, the M2 boasts a full 3-band EQ, letting you manipulate the bass, middle and treble frequencies. This means that you can tailor your tones completely on-the-fly.

The Marcus Standard Bridge provides a comfortable and solid feel, with its traditional design letting you make action or intonation adjustments easily. At the other end of the instrument you’ll find a set of Marcus Die-Cast tuners, ensuring optimal tuning stability.

Ordered it from Andertons on 3rd April. Arrived ay my door 16th November. When I ordered it the price was £282. It is now £329 so I didn't mind the wait so much. I bought this model for its looks. I like maple fretboards and the almost invisible dots is a bonus. The good. The finish is flawless. The fretwork is perfect. <1.5mm action at its highest point and I could go a little lower. The preamp is very flexible. Weight is just over eight pounds. Neck is really nice with those rolled edges. The Bad. The tuners are awful. Not just bad but unusably bad. When changing strings one of them got so tight I thought it was going to break. All the posts had movement up and down when string tension is removed and they all grind when turned under tension. Complete garbage, which is dissapointing. I've spent a little more than I saved by ordering a set of Gotoh GB350s. The ugly. The nut on mine is a mess. It is slightly off-centre. It is damaged on the top and it seems to have a shim under it. The slots seem to be in the right place so lowering them made it perfectly playable, it just looks ugly. I've got a bunch of bone blanks. I'll try making it a new one sometime. Overall I like it very much. Quality issues aside. Feels and plays great.

Was ordered for my son who fell in love with this amazing bass as soon as he started to play as the weight was well balanced and the build quality outstanding.
