Product Description

A staple of the Epiphone line-up, the Les Paul Junior is stripped back to classic ‘50s style and raw tone. Epiphone’s Inspired by Gibson collection applies iconic features and advanced construction techniques to incredibly accessible instruments.

Construction

Truly accurate to vintage design, the Junior consists of a classic mahogany body and neck combination in a tobacco burst finish. Nothing gets more rock and roll than this.

The neck has a Vintage ‘50s profile which is slightly deeper than the slim taper Gibson adapted at the end of the decade. Paired with the 12” fingerboard radius and medium jumbo frets, the Junior provides an brilliantly authentic playing experience. Hardware specs include a Graph Tech nut and a Lightning bar wrap around bridge for solid tuning stability.

Sound

All Gibson guitars were equipped with P90 pickups before they standardised the humbucker in the Les Paul. These are single coil pickups providing a high output, powerful tone that doesn’t require much heat to get aggressive.

Otherwise known as the soapbar, P90s excel in anything from jazz, through blues and into rock. The P-90 PRO pickups in the Junior are fully waxed potted to eliminate unwanted mic feedback.

So happy with the Epi Junior. I spent a week watching reviews with the Gibson in my basket. So glad I made the choice to save a £1000. Finish and sound is far too good for the price point. It's great fun, highly recommend.

Great sound and easy to play. Little setup needed but fret board is damaged.

Excellent value for money. OK, it has a single P90, and the looks aren't that great; but it plays really well, has a well set neck, the pickup is much, much better than I had expected, the nut is very well cut, the action is just how I like it (a little high), frets are nearly perfect (a little rough at 4 and from 13 onwards), intonation not that good (around ten to 15 cents out at the twelfth). Tuners and pots work nicely. A good P90 (and this is really very much better than I had expected) can really growl, or handle some cool jazz - in fact, any genre! If, like me, you like simple working guitars, do not overlook this one. Highly recommended. The downsides? The finish is just ridiculously glossy (looks very garish), the fingerboard is ugly and open-grained - well, it isn't Brazilian Rosewood, is it?!? Some ham-fisted monkey at the makers or at Andertons has graunched the saddle height adjustment screws by using too small a screwdiver in the slots.

Awesome guitar! Well built, very good pickup and a great finish. Fret board is all good, and just feels great to play.

4 stars instead of 5: Because of the factory setup which was very high. I had to change strings and clean the fretboard as my fingers got black when playing on it... After lowering the bridge and tightening the truss rod, the guitar now plays as I want :)
