PRS are known for blending vintage and modern influences into their instruments and as a result, make some of the finest guitars around. This mix of vintage and modern is quite evident in the PRS McCarty II.
The McCarty models have always been the more vintage-inspired offerings from PRS - after all, they are named after Ted McCarty the man who helped design Gibson's iconic range of guitars in the 50s and 60s. With its mahogany body, maple top, and dual humbuckers there's plenty of vintage design and tones here to enjoy.
What sets this guitar apart from the more traditional McCartys is the Mastering Voice Control (MVC) active preamp. Paul Reed Smith designed the MVC to give players the option of switching to a 60s single-coil-style tone or a heavy metal style tone. The MVC expands the sounds contained within the McCarty allowing you to have those classic vintage dual humbucker tones but doesn't limit you to just that.
