Product Description

Solid State amps may have gotten a bad rap over the last few years from people making small poor sounding combos that are made to be used as your first amp. Roland want to get rid of the idea that Solid State amps are bad by making a premium transistor amplifier that is gig worthy out of the box. This amp is the Blues Cube Artist 2x12 and it is ready to give you valve like clean and crunch sounds without the drawbacks of a traditional valve amp.

Lightweight

One of the biggest issues with using a valve amplifier is that they are large, bulky and because of that very heavy. By emulating the circuitry but using transistors instead of valves you can make it much smaller and lighter so that you can easily travel from gig to gig.

Tube Like Tone

This is not a modeling amplifier that is emulating what an amplifier should sound like, this is a real transistor amplifier that is wired similar to how a real valve amp is but replacing the hefty valve components with smaller and lighter transistors. This means that you get true classic tweed amp resonse but at any volume as you don't have any valves you need to push.

Clean and Crunch

Designed after classic tweed style amplifiers the Blues Cube Artist features not only clean and crunch channels which will take you from the crisp cleans to glorious mid gain lead tones. Perfect for, pop, blues, rock and much more this 2x12 amplifier is the perfect gigging amp. The best part though is that you can use both channels at once offering up some really cool and unique sounds not available on any other amplifier.

Maintenance Free

Solid State amps are known for being much more reliable than valve amplifiers. While valve amps can suddenly die from the lightest of knocks in the wrong direction, solid state amps will keep on working for years and years without issue. If you want to make sure your backline doesn't go down on your next tour this is an amp worth looking at.

Takes Pedals Like A Champ

One of the key advantages valve amplifiers have had over solid state competitors is that they take pedals a lot better. The Blues Cube Artist fights back against this though and now it can take all the pedals you want just as well as a valve amplifier. So feel free to pile on the drive and let the amp do the work.

Power Amp Options

While a lot of amplifiers have got power amp scaling that really doesn't work that well on solid state amps. So instead of opting for your traditional power amp scaling the Blues Cube Artisan 2x12 actually has 4 different power amps (0.5w, 15w, 45w and 85w) ready to power this pair of custom 12" speakers.

What a great amp. I play mainly clean blues and rock but this amp is capable of most genres and is a great pedal platform. Perfect for home use and gigging. I also currently own a great Cornford and a Boss Katana amp neither have been played since this purchase.

This amp takes the iconic American 6L6-based valve sound as used in some famous tweed amps from the 50's. The big feature is that when in use it actually reacts and behaves like one, at different settings and volume levels, rather than giving just a "snapshot " of the tone. The bonus is that it weighs less than a 50 watt 4 x 10 American valve combo, and a lot less than 2 x 12 85 watt/100 watt valve combos and, being solid state, is road-ready tough.

The BC is an 85 watt, solid state 2X12 guitar combo. No modelling or loads of effects. It's based on the Fender Tweed series of amps from the 1950's and has tremolo & reverb built in. There is a 'clean' channel that will dirty up and a crunch channel that will overdrive. Normal 3 band EQ, master volume & presence plus a boost for each channel and a tone button that gives extra treble and bass leaving the middle to where you have set it. Very useful and effective. There is a foot-switch available, but it's an additional £75 which is, in my opinion a bit expensive. I use only the clean channel set to slightly breaking up, so I can do without the foot control although it would be nice to use the boost facility from a single foot switch, but this wont work. You have to get the large and expensive Roland GA-FC . You can however switch channels with a Boss FS-5L. There is some misleading info around about this, so bare it in mind. As for the amp itself..Brilliant...The closest I've heard to a real valve amp. More than enough power (that's switchable on the amp from 85 watts down to .5 of a watt) for band/gig use and great for recording with the line out or USB out facility. It takes all types of stomp boxes very well and is a good deal lighter to carry than most 2X12 valve amps I've come across. I'm gigging the amp (Rockabilly/rock'n'roll) and the other band members say it gives an authentic, and more than loud enough sound. (I generally use the 45 watt setting with master volume on 3 ). Apart from the niggle of not being able to operate the boost facility from a single footswitch, I can't fault the amp. Bit pricey, but it's a Roland.. High quality and bomb-proof. All analogue, no digital nonsense.. A real sturdily built gigging amp that should outlast me.

Excellent product. Definitely has feel and sound of a valve amp. Virtually silent background. Effects loop good. Onboard tremolo good vintage sound. I am using GAFC, fs5 and ev5. I think these are almost essential to get the best control while playing.
