Andertons Music Company has become one of a select number of retailers who have been awarded Genelec Reference Centre status. A Genelec Reference centre combines a studio-quality demonstration room with highly knowledgeable staff who can help you select the right Genelec monitoring solution for your room.
The Genelec name carries a lot of weight in the Pro Audio industry. Genelec are known for one thing only - quality. A name that is as synonymous with desirable and quality monitors as Fender is with guitars, the 8030B holds it's head up high. Whilst Genelec monitors are the choice of professionals, the price tag doesn't put them out of reach.
Here's what Genelec say about the 8030B Monitors
The compact 8030B is a powerful bi-amplified nearfield 2-way monitor system ideal for project and home studios, workstations, installations, and surround sound monitoring. Our Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) feature, reduces power consumption to less than 0.5 watts by automatically switching the active monitor to standby, when no audio signal has been detected for some time. When it receives an audio signal again, the loudspeaker turns back on.
ISS is fully compliant with the latest EU requirements and the ErP 2013 Directive for electronic devices. Every Genelec 8030B monitor comes with an Iso-Pod™(Isolation Positioner/Decoupler™) as standard. The Iso-Pod™ is a clever mounting stand, which allows the system to perform in either the vertical or horizontal position.
It also enables the acoustic axis of the monitor to be aimed at the listener, while acoustically and mechanically decoupling the monitor from the surface it is resting on. If very large sound levels and a low cutoff frequency are required it can be complemented in stereo applications with the 7050B subwoofer and in surround applications with the 7060B subwoofer.
The MDE™ (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™) enclosure has rounded edges and a gently curved front and sides to achieve a very smooth frequency response and superb imaging qualities with minimized cabinet edge diffraction. Like all Genelec 8000 Series monitors, the 8030B also features the advanced Genelec Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™), a revolutionary flow-optimized reflex port design, optimized die-cast aluminium structure with extremely durable semi-matt finish and acoustically optimized metal grilles.
Low distortion drivers are driven by dedicated amplifiers after sophisticated filtering. Magnetic shielding, overload protection circuitry and versatile room response controls are standard. The versatile mounting features include integrated rear support points for wall and floor stands plus a further 3/8" thread for mounting on the cabinet base.
Intelligent Signal Sensing Powersave Mode
Intelligent Signal-Sensing technology from Genelec has been developed to meet with both European Union ErP Directives and the company’s own wider sustainability commitments. This new technology will be applied to the entire catalogue of Genelec loudspeakers to minimise energy waste and significantly reduce power consumption when items are left in standby mode.
Upon entering the low-power sleep state, power feed is removed from most of the electronic parts of the system and, crucially no heat is generated. When an audio signal is later detected on the input, the loudspeaker amplifier immediately turns itself on, silently, and immediately continues working with full accuracy.
The ISS monitoring system starts saving power as soon as work is interrupted. The setup is fully automated, meaning end-users do not need to remember to turn loudspeakers off for the ISS circuitry to save power. This new system not only presents environmental benefits but is also good for the safe running and the long term reliability of Genelec loudspeakers.
