Product Description

The Neumann NDH 20 headphones are a comfortable, closed-back, premium pair that are designed to excel whether you’re mixing, monitoring, editing or listening to audio. Impressive isolation is paired with a meticulously balanced sound image – retaining all of the high-quality resolution that Neumann are known for worldwide.

Audio Applications

The NDH 20 takes any audio scenario in its stride. Tasks that need high sound isolation, such as front of house engineering or monitoring musicians in a tracking room are made simple and straightforward. They’re also a perfect option for critical listening. Referencing the upper and lower reaches of the audio band is made possible due to an extended frequency response – which ranges from between 5 Hz and 30 kHz.

Enhanced Listening

Detail and an extremely well-balanced sound image are just a couple of the NDH 20’s standout benefits. In this department, they are on a level with Neumann’s highly regarded studio loudspeakers. This helps you to be more accurate when it comes to mixing – allowing you to precisely pinpoint sections of your recordings. Traditionally, the majority of closed-back headphones are not built for mixing applications. However, in the case of the NDH 20 you can mix effectively in any scenario.

Innovative drivers were selected that utilise high-gauss, neodymium magnets. The result is a clearer audio signal that doesn’t suffer from annoying coloration. They also ensure that distortion is kept to an absolute minimum, while simultaneously providing a far higher sensitivity.

Memory foam earpads have been chosen to ensure comfort; especially during extended listening sessions. An adjustable headband (produced using flexible steel), plus lightweight aluminium ear cup coverings results in a lower overall weight. Listening fatigue is now a thing of the past! Transportation is ultra-simple too. A foldable design allows you to easily store them and then bring with you on your travels.

I wanted closed back quality headphones because I'm currently in a house move situation and I don't have good monitor options. These fit the bill exceptionally well. Their dynamic range for lows mids and highs is very good. It's my first Neumann product and I very impressed indeed.

These headphones are something else. I’ve had the same headphones for 20+ years so it was time for an upgrade and what an upgrade these are. Sound incredible and so comfortable, which is essential when settling in for a mixing session. If your looking for some top quality headphones look no further!

Mr Alex Walker28th Sep 2020

I'm an electronic music producer making nearly all music in headphones as I don't have space for a good speaker set up at home. Previous headphones were the Audio Technica MTH50s which I enjoyed immensely, but the headband was literally disintegrating after so much time on my head. So, time for a new pair. As I use headphones so much, I wanted the best I could afford and something that was a step up from most other headphones in the £150-£250 bracket. I also had my eye on the Beyer Dynamic DT990 but from research, these looked like something too close in quality to my ATs. I'm enjoying these immensely, not only as a music making tool, but also for recreational listening. I've yet to try mixing with them, but the clarity is incredible, very easy to hear EQ and compression moves. The real test will be how any mixing translates, but so far small tweaks to tracks in progress are coming across well when I listen back on phone earbuds. The build quality is very nice, as you'd hope at this price. The headphones are super sturdy, even the cabling feels ultra high grade. As with researching any kind of expensive audio equipment on the internet, you'll find or wealth of conflicting information. I read reviews that said they were heavy (I've not found that), and that they were uncomfortable wearing for long periods of time. Again, I haven't found that. The sound you get from these is TRUE. You can really pick apart the music you're listening to. For example, listening to a lot of early dub, you can really hear the sound of the tape, and just how mono a lot of those recordings are. These cans do not hype the music in any way. It really is like being in the room. Isolation is excellent. Very hard to hear anything else when listening on these! I'm using these with a MacBook, straight in, no amp, no interface and they sound great. I'm sure some kind of amp might improve things even more, but I'd like to preserve my hearing as much as possible, and I'm not looking to colour things in any way. So far, the Neumanns have fulfilled my brief of the best sound quality I can afford to make music with. Hopefully they'll stand the test of time, they certainly feel like they will.
