Product Description

The power of a fully-fledged modular synth in a guitar pedal - it could only mean Poly Effects are on the case. The Australian stompbox whizzes are some of the most technologically advanced creators in the business. They're here with the Beebo, providing you with an almost endless list of modulation effects to push the boundaries of what a guitar can do. The Beebo is both your perfect live tool with super easy access to each effect, and your go-to experimental box of sound design.

Here's what Poly Effects say about the Beebo:

Beebo is a multi modulation pedal that also gives you the power of a eurorack modular synth in an easy to use touch screen pedal. If you want great live tools or to push the boundaries of sound design, Beebo will get you there.

If you’re looking for conventional effects, auto swell, delay, algorithmic reverb, chorus, looping delay, mono & stereo EQ, mono & stereo compressor, pan, phaser, reverse, rotary, saturator, phaser, warmth and zero flanger, Beebo will cover your needs.

Each effect is a powerful algorithm when used alone, but the real magic comes when you combine them and control them. The rotary for example, exposes more than 30 parameters for those who want to dig deep into its detailed physical model. Combining effects, and controlling one module from another is what it’s all about in the Beebo.

You can make the foot switches change a value, or connect up parameters to a random source, an LFO or an envelope follower. Modules that generate control signals can be controlled too, which is the power of a modular workflow. For example, If you don’t get everything you want out of the built in chorus or flanger modules you can build your own by adding a few delay modules and modulating them. You can also send control signals out as MIDI CC to control other pedals. Beebo plays well with others and it’s easy to share presets, just plug in a USB flash drive and export or import them.

If you want modular or weirder effects, the bitmangle, freeze, granular, 6 different virtual analog filters, powerful LFOs, time stretch, turntable stop, twist delay, VCA, wavefolder, attenuverter and more Beebo will cover it.

There’s some very powerful modules ported from the best eurorack modules including a granular texture synthesiser, a 16 model macro oscillator voice and a meta modulator with 7 blendable signal combining algorithms including ring modulation, comparators and cross folding.

The MIDI to V/oct module allows you to drive the synthesis modules from MIDI note input.

Digit Merges into Beebo

The Beebo and Digit firmwares have now been merged into a single firmware. Existing owners will be able to update to the new unified firmware. The new firmware means that the convolution based real space reverbs can be used with the full range of modulation and synthesis effects.

The combined firmware now includes 94 modules ranging from harmonic tremolo to Déjà vu random melody generation.

This pedal is what I've been looking for - it can fill a number of different roles and due to the 4in/4out IO it can allow for pretty interesting setup options when combining a bunch of gear for a session. The super simple IR loading allows for completly unique reverb sounds, which has really inspired me to capture some of my favourite spaces to use. Last but certainly not least - if like me you've lusted after the Mutable Instruments Clouds module but don't want to open the gateway to modular just yet, then this pedal has you covered.

Only scratched the surface of this currently. It will be a permanent addition to my pedalboard but I may need a midi foot controller for it.

No power brick supplied, No 3.5mmm to midi leads, no manual and poor packaging on £450 pedal - not even plastic covering the screen!

Absolutely love the pedal, can achieve everything I wanted out of it and would rate it above any multi fx unit that I've tried in the past - as the ability to customise the signal flow is incredible.

So good I bought it twice. I've had one of the original Poly Digits from a while, and the firmware just gets better and better. So a second one easily doubles the flexibility.

The Beebo/Digit isn't a pedal for everyone, but if you're willing to put in the time, for a guitar player it's a gateway to another musical world. I think of it as a high quailty effects sketch pad - if the pedal you want doesn't exist, almost certainly you can make a version of it with the Beebo/Digit.
