Product Description

The sE Electronics SE2000 MKII is a large diaphragm condenser, well voiced for recording vocals, recording acoustic guitars etc. Perfect as a first-time studio microphone but with a level of quality that will keep it in your collection forever!

The sE Electronics SE2000 MKII is one of our best selling microphones for the simple reason that sE Electronics are a trusted name in microphones, producing many industry favourites and some seriously high end microphone. Normally you'd expect quality to come at a price but because sE are such a big player in the industry they're able to apply cutting edge production techniques to keep costs low and pass on the saving to you! That means the SE2000 MKII is the perfect large diaphragm condenser to add to your collection without breaking your home studio budget. Those with bigger budgets may even find use for the SE2000 in places like under the snare drum that can benefit from a condenser but where you wouldn't want to risk placing a more expensive microphone.

Here's what sE Electronics say about the SE2000 MkII

The sE2000 is a large diaphragm, cardioid pattern capacitor microphone that utilises a one inch, centre terminated, gold sputtered mylar diaphragm capsule in conjunction with low noise Class A, FET circuitry and a transformer balanced output stage. It features a wide frequency response with a very subtle presence lift and is suitable for recording studio vocals as well as most acoustic instruments and ensembles. All sE microphones are closely matched, making them ideal for stereo applications, and the sE2000’s are particularly recommended for recording vocals and acoustic instruments.

Note Requires 48v Phantom Power which almost all audio interfaces with XLR inputs can provide. However it's worth double checking.

Sound

Mr R Robinson4th Oct 2016

The mic is fine, but I miss the noise-reduction cradle that was provided with the Mk1 version, so there is the risk of sound being transmitted from the floor (tapping foot for example) up the stand and into the mic. I would have preferred to pay a little more to have the cradle as well; unfortunately the Mk2 design does not allow it to be fitted within a cradle.
