Product Description

The Neo Ventilator 2 is the latest in Neo's highly regarded Leslie rotary speaker simulations. Leslie rotary speakers create one of the most sought after effects for keyboard and guitar players but the actual things are very expensive, very large, and very heavy; this pedal is neither of those things but it does give you an amazing simulation of the Leslie Rotary 122 Speaker in pedal form.

This pedal gives you complete control over the simulation so you can modify it to your preference with speed, acceleration and balance control allowing you to set up not only the speed of the rotors but also the acceleration and deceleration of the low and high rotors while the Balance control lets you control the mix of high and low rotors. The drive and distance controls allow you to control the simulation of the tube overdrive that is commonly found used with a Hammond.

Here's what Neo Instruments say about the Ventilator 2 pedal

VENTILATOR simulates a 122 model rotary cabinet, mic'ed up with a stereo pair on top for the treble rotor and a single mono mic below for the drum holding the woofer. The Distance knob lets you move the virtual microphones closer in for lots of amplitude modulation with an intense stereo effect and further out to conjure more diffuse sounds with gentle modulation.

Individually Adjustable Rotors

The Speed knob adjusts the two rotors' velocities, and the Acceleration knob determines acceleration and deceleration time. As on the original, the bass and treble rotors run out of sync at slightly different speeds. Acceleration and deceleration times also differ, with the bass rotor taking much longer to speed up and slow down. The Balance knob adjusts the relative levels of the two rotary speakers.

Tube Simulation

The Drive section is another awesome sound-sculpting tool in VENTILATOR's kit. Don't expect the buzz-saw rasp of a transistor-powered fuzz because it delivers all the warmth of bona fide tube-flavoured overdrive. The Drive knob dials in everything from a touch of grit to a real rock roar, all of which can be controlled extremely dynamically via an organ's volume pedal.

Versatile Input & Outputs

VENTILATOR comes with a mono input and a stereo output. The Lo / Hi switch matches input gain to the signal source. You can insert VENTILATOR between your instrument and an amp or mixing console as well as into an FX loop.

Remote Control

VENTILATOR is a stompbox by design, but you can set it on an organ or keyboard for easier access to the knobs. Switching speeds is simple enough, either directly via the Slow / Fast stomp-switch on the device or remotely via a half-moon or external footswitch. If you are controlling the device remotely, you can also use a kill switch to stop the rotors. One LED each indicates the respective rotor's current speed.

Speaker Simulation

An elaborate filter circuit emulates the frequency response of a tube-driven cabinet with exacting precision. When using a guitar amp, simply set the switch to GIT to defeat the speaker simulation and obtain practically linear frequency response.

True Bypass

VENTILATOR comes with a true bypass designed especially for use with guitars. This relay circuit patches the input signal through to the two outputs with no loss of tone or level.

Have tried many rotary effects and always compared them to my actual Leslie 760 speaker. No way am i lugging the Leslie around anymore. It stays in the studio. When i first tried the Ventilator, I was a bit disappointed until i actually bothered to read the manual (not something musos usually do!). The unit was defaulting to a guitar setting. Once i changed it to keys it made a huge difference. I'm using it on a Nord electro 5 which has an ok leslie sim but using the Ventilator instead has made a massive difference. The two will never be the same as the real things but there pretty good and won't break your back. Pity the Ventilator is so expensive but it is pretty ****** good.

Versatile Leslie effects unit - Pricey, but about the best you can get for a realistic simulation of the classic Leslie sound.

Got the Boss RT-20 a while back and fell in love with the Leslie cabinet simulation effect. After allot of research I decided to pick up the ventilator as I want rotary to be the centrepiece of my rig. I have the ventilator set up in stereo and while I love the RT-20- the ventilator takes it to another level. Not just on the accuracy in which it sounds like a real Leslie- but just the sound quality as well, I have never gotten a guitar sound I as good as it has when I play on the ventilator. I haven’t tried the Strymon lex or any of the other simulators but it’s hard to imagine beating this without a real Leslie. For me this was worth every cent of the price tag due to the amount I use rotary in my rig.
