Peter Green is a guitar legend. The songs he wrote in his time with Fleetwood Mac will go down in history as some of the greatest guitar-work ever recorded. It was not just his playing but his tone as well that amazed audiences all over the world. Now Peter Green is known for playing one particular Les Paul and we had a go at recreating using Gibson's Made 2 Measure system. Say hello to the stunning '59 Les Paul Inspired By Peter Green.
Built On The R9
The R9 Les Paul is one of the best base models available in the Made 2 Measure program. This is mostly due to it being one of the few to feature a historically correct long tennon neck joint which helps with sustain and stability across the instrument.
We did have to change a few things though just to make it a better experience. So we upgraded the back wood to a single piece of lightweight Mahogany and the top is made using a piece of Figured Maple we hand picked while we were at the Custom Shop.
Apart from that a lot of the base specs are the same. The fretwire, inalys, nut etc. are all the same that are used on the standard R9 but it does not quite end just there.
Incredible Hardware
As part of Gibson's Collectors Choice series of guitars they create individual pickups to suit every single model and it turns out you can get these through Made 2 Measure. So we spend hours testing loads of different pickups trying to find that legendary Peter Green tone we all love.
Eventually we settled on a set of these Custombucker pickups that were made to '59 standards with a slight overwind giving them that little bit of blusey bite that Peter Green loves. These pickups are designed specifically for high end reissues of famous models and these ones got us that Peter Green feel we were after.

How do I use instant finance?
