Guildford the Rock 'n' Roll Years Book by Nigel Enever

Foreword by David Rose

Guildford - the Rock 'n' Roll Years is a fascinating account of the Live Music scene in Guildford in the sixties. Nigel Enever takes us from the grass roots of a thriving skiffle scene through the rock 'n' rolling 60s playing gigs at the Civic Hall, The Wooden Bridge pub and the Ricky Tick. We stop off and sneak in a cheeky listen to the best records at Barnes & Avis, and witness the beginnings and evolution of our very own Andertons Music Company!

A comprehensive and detailed account that meshes together a great decade, and the birth of the music community in Guildford, with heart warming stories about a scene that still draws in crowds from miles away nearly fifty years later.

About the Author

Nigel Enever lived his teenage years in Guildford in the sixties and his passion for music led him to play in some of the many beat groups and soul bands which operated throughout the Guildford scene during this era.  He is an established author and for the purposes of this book has interviewed many of the participants and observers of the scene, including Phillip Goodhand-Tait of rock 'n' roll band The Stormsville Shakers.

David Rose is a well-known local history author, journalist and musician.
