Product Description

The Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal is a foot pedal designed for use with keyboards, and other expression-compatible devices like guitar pedals. It provides a more dynamic and professional level of control to your performance, enabling real-time adjustments to be made with ease. Whether you play keyboard, synths, or guitar, the level of control afforded by this simple little unit is extraordinary.

The EV-5 is equipped with a 'Minimum Volume' knob on the side of the pedal. This sets the control value sent when the pedal is in the up (back) position, and therefore affects the overall control range of the pedal. The purpose of the knob is to allow you to set two different volume levels, so that you can quickly toggle between the two during a performance: One, the pedal-forward position (maximum volume), and two, the pedal-back position (minimum volume). If the 'Minimum Volume' knob is set fully clockwise, there will be very little difference between the up and down pedal positions. To utilise the full range of the pedal, set the 'Minimum Volume' knob fully counter-clockwise.

Versatile & Compact

As well as being useful for changing levels between songs during a set, or for being able to crank the volume for that all-important solo, the Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal delivers control with grace. Nuances in your music and playing style technique should be given the appreciation and clarity they deserve, which is where the EV-5 comes into its own.

Rugged & Reliable

The simplistic yet rugged design is a mark of the dedication Roland has to every product they create. The hard-wearing unit is built with live performance in mind, which means that it can take just about anything you throw at it during a gig — no matter how enthusiastically you may play. Once you have used the Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal, you won't be able to go back to using the standard volume control!

I used this to go with my Laney BCC Secret Path reverb and it works exactly as it should. The reverb pedal is amazing and EV5 really opens up the versatility of it. Very easy to use and reliable. Recently used in some live streaming events and it didn't let me down. Seems very well made and sturdy enough - would probably go for something more sturdy if regularly touring, but fine for home use and occasional gigs. I doubt more expensive ones would function any better - you'd be mainly paying for the external sturdy pedal design with the same quality function of the EV5 - depending on your needs.

It does the job but I will probably upgrade to a more robust model eventually

Worked a treat. Easy to set up with my Roland synth. Blew me away using it with the organ sound and Lesley rotary speaker emulator. Good as volume pedal to create another cool effect...

Mr Richard Lines7th Apr 2017

The range is not very wide even with the maximum adjustment and it is therefore not particularly sensitive - actually not as good as the expression pedal on a 20 year old Technics keyboard I have
