Get ready for MKII

The Analog Four has been taken back into the workshop and taken apart to create an entirely new MKII Analog Four. The analog circuitry has been reworked and the overdrive enhanced with more attitude than its predecessor.

A lovely touch is that the MKII synth features a new OLED screen, so that you can easily delve into the Four's digital parameters. To help with this, Elektron have also added extra buttons and even some CV inputs for improved external control.

Here's what Elektron say about the Analog Four MKII:

Analog Bliss

Organic, warm, chaotic, exact, and everything in between. Moulding your own unique analog sounds is simple. Program them with precision, or feel free to design as you go. The sonic range is so vast entire tracks can be created from scratch.

From Sounds to Songs

Four synth tracks and an intuitive step sequencer enable you to easily create and layer melodies. Then play back your composition and immediately reshape it. Change notes, alter sounds, add effects. Something beautifully unique will emerge every single time.

Modular Control

Not only a splendid synthesizer, the Analog Four can also make other gear sing. Thanks to the CV/Gate and DIN sync outputs, external analog gear can be controlled in great detail. Make any modular or vintage synthesizer rig come truly alive.

I cannot remember the last time I was this impressed with an instrument. The system architecture and the interface are so well laid out that I felt at home with it after a day or two. It has it`s own voice, not trying to mimic other brands...and it sounds awesome. Unlimited flexibility, almost no menu diving and the build quality is top notch. Highly recommended ! P.S. Possibly not the best choice for beginners.

So I tried a LOT of synths at Andertons over 4 visits this year but I kept coming back to the Analog Four MkII. Yes it's only 4 voices, it's not knob per function but the sound, the sound, the sound! Yes, the Sequential Trigon-6 is absolutely beautiful (got very close to getting that) but it just does not have the flexibility of the A4 - the A4 is a right old-skool bonkers 1960's modular sound lab when it wants to be but is an absolutely modern deep analogue as well. It doesn't have quite the immediate wallop of a Prophet 6 or Moog but it goes the places I want to go and stretches analogue into all sorts of interesting areas. And you get a free sequencer thrown in. And CV outs which you can use for other synths or route back into the A4. Very, very nice even if my first unit only pushed out analog sound in mono! (quickly swapped out by Andertons, thanks). This one will keep my busy for a long time ...

I usually find hardware synths kind of underwhelming given how spoiled we are with VSTs these days, but the A4 really makes you realise just how good hardware can be. Elektron workflow is not for everyone, perhaps—and not everyone wants a synth that is basically sequencer driven. But if that appeals, this is worth every penny.
