Product Description

The Silver Jubilee is back! Only this is the Black Elephant Grain tolex version. Marshall have released a reissue of this classic amplifier called the 2555x. Originally launched in 1987 to celebrate 25 years in the amp business the Jubilee is a darker and hotter version of the world renown JCM800 2203 and 2204 and has been used on stages around the world. 27 years after it was taken off the shelves it is back to take the world by storm.

Classic Circuit

Fans of the original will be happy to know that this reissue is as close to the original circuit as you can get without going and trying to find one of the originals. This 100w/50w switchable all valve head does have a few functional improvements over the original but in terms of sound you can't improve on perfection. Rated at 100w this three mode two channel amplifier uses four EL34 power amp tubes and three ECC83 preamp tubes to provide incredible levels of high gain loveliness.

Its signature and unique three 'mode' preamp system the clean mode which as the name suggests is a clean mode with little to no drive that will cut through a mix really well. The Rhythm Clip mode adds slightly more gain to the signal and fattens up the sound to make sure you are heard and finally you have a footswitchable lead mode which is perfect for those classic British rock solos.

Awesome amplifier! It is as good as they say! Pure and raw rock´n´roll power with a great tone stack to tweak your sound. I bought this one because non of my Marshalls had a FX Loop. As I got addicted to a good reverb sound, i needed something with a loop. At the moment I use a cheap TC Electronic Skysurfer, which works flawless in the loop. I might get a Strymon Flint or I will try the reverb of my El Capistan. There will be many possibility with the loop! Back to the amp. Some said it´s a one trick pony. But I have to confess, it is more than that. I get the best rock´n´roll sound it the lead channel, with the input gain rather low, without rhythm clip, output master around 8 and the lead master as master volume control. But even with the input gain high + rhythm clip, I could got a very nice tone. In this "mode" it´s possible to run the rhythm channel as main channel and the lead channel as solo boost with more gain and volume! As said before, the tone stack is great! Bass and Middle controls are very effective! With more Bass and less Middle you get some awesome metal tones. With the middle control around 7 you are back on the rock´n´roll track! I also like the sound of the rhythm channel with rhythm clip and the input gain low. That leads to a nice "egde of breakup" tone. .. so back to the first sentence: Awesome amplifier!

The 2555X is a true rock machine! With a heritage which the original silver jubilees created the reissue didn’t disappoint. What an amp! If you’re on the fence about on of these go try one out from my own experience with mine it won’t disappoint.
