Product Description

The Taylor 214CEN is a fantastic nylon strung acoustic for classical or jazz players or perhaps a second acoustic for a guitarist wanting to dip into the smoother sounds of nylon strings. Usually played fingerstyle the classical, nylon strung, guitar is lighter than its steel strung counterparts and has a greater subtlty of tone.

Classical guitars have a unique, soft spoken, tone. Taylor have paid close attention to every inch of the 214 to give you the best, richest tones possible and the result is an incredibly versatile instruemnt. The solid Sitka Spruce top is a classic combination with laminate Koa sides for a tone that's smooth and well bodied yet with enough dynamic headroom for aggressive players to bring out a real sparkle and snap. whether you're playing gentle spanish melodies or faster, rhythmic latin rhythm this guitar will sound amazing. The neck feels comfortable and smooth, the finish is flawless and the overall feel of the guitar is really excellent. To protect your guitar Taylor have even included a hardshell case bag to go with it.

ES2

For decades, piezo-electric transducers have been positioned under the saddle of a guitar based on the long-held belief that the string and top vibration cause the saddle to "bounce" up and down. Taylor's electronics team discovered that the vertical movement is actually heavily restricted, and that the saddle gets "locked down" due to the string tension's downward pressure. That's why a traditional under-saddle pickup with piezo-electric crystals often responds with a sound often characterized as thin, brittle, brash or synthetic, especially with more aggressive playing.

Taylor moved the pickup from under the saddle to behind it. The new positioning enables the crystals to respond more naturally to the guitar's energy as it is transferred through the saddle. What this means is you get a warmer, richer sound. You can dig in and still sound great.

The ES2 features the same volume and tone control knobs as previous versions. The preamp is similar but with a slightly different gain structure. As a result it will be about 25 percent hotter, which is more in line with other pickups. This makes it plug-and-play friendly both for artists and live sound mixers.

Here's what Taylor say about the 200 Series

One of the benefits of Taylor’s modern manufacturing approach is our ability to put a great guitar within reach of more players. The rosewood laminate 200 Series is an appealing option for people who want a quality guitar that they can also feel comfortable taking out and using in the world. Whether it’s a developing player’s first “serious” guitar, a dedicated guitar for a second location, or simply the right guitar for your budget, you can count on Taylor’s signature playability and tone to keep you inspired. Choose from a Dreadnought or Grand Auditorium, with an optional cutaway and Taylor’s ES-T electronics.
