Product Description

The Taylor 200 series of acoustics have been a great choice for musicians that need a premium quality instrument at a price that most people can afford. Made using the very popular Grand Auditorium body known for its versatility this 214ce guitar works great for both fingerpicking and strumming styles.

Brilliant Design

Taylor are known the world over for their ability to make high end acoustic guitar and the knowledge that goes into this and has bled down into the great value 200 series. Using Taylors signature Grand Auditorium design you manage to get a beautifully balanced sound that can easily cut through any mix. This makes the 214ce the perfect acoustic for those with so set style or sound and just need something that sounds great every night.

Wood Choices

To make sure you get the most out of the many hours of research and development that went into designing this guitar Taylor have made sure the woods are top notch. Made with Koa laminate back and sides with a solid sitka spruce top this guitar sounds huge! It resonates and projects wonderfully with a classic folk acoustic tone that plenty of you will love.

Rethinking the Piezo Pickup

For decades, piezo-electric transducers have been positioned under the saddle of a guitar based on the long-held belief that the string and top vibration cause the saddle to "bounce" up and down. Taylor's electronics team discovered that the vertical movement is actually heavily restricted, and that the saddle gets "locked down" due to the string tension's downward pressure. That's why a traditional under-saddle pickup with piezo-electric crystals often responds with a sound often characterized as thin, brittle, brash or synthetic, especially with more aggressive playing.

Taylor moved the pickup from under the saddle to behind it. The new positioning enables the crystals to respond more naturally to the guitar's energy as it is transferred through the saddle. What this means is you get a warmer, richer sound. You can dig in and still sound great.

The ES2 features the same volume and tone control knobs as previous versions. The preamp is similar but with a slightly different gain structure. As a result it will be about 25 percent hotter, which is more in line with other pickups. This makes it plug-and-play friendly both for artists and live sound mixers.

I quite enjoyed playing the guitar. It has a nice tone and plays quite well. I have however played better in cheaper ranges so I would say we are paying for the Taylor name. It is only Taylor in name. I would say not to buy this guitar if you are expecting it to be from the U.S. It was made in Mexico. I am keeping it for the tone.

This is a fabulous guitar, I spent hours in the store trying virtually everything available (and there is a lot available) and this stood out head and shoulders for me. Highly playable and incredible sound whether played acoustically or plugged in. Thanks guys, a real gem!

I just can't put it down it just feels and plays great. Back in May I bought a PRS SE a50e and from day one just had no love for the guitar so after a couple of weeks it just went into the rack to get played very occasionally. Finally decided to sell the PRS and invest in a new acoustic and having had a Taylor 314 in the past (blooming divorce lawyers) decided Taylor was the way to go. Couldn't be happier with the 214ce lovely tone, neck feels great, set up was near perfect straight out of the box and for the first time in a long time the acoustic is the first guitar I reach for when I get home
