Taylor 214ce-QM DLX Special Edition - Quilted Maple

The Taylor 200 DLX series 214ce DLX takes the popular Taylor 214ce and gives it some significant upgrades that bring it up to line with the features of the 300 series but without the additional costs of solid back and sides etc.

You do however get an incredible natural Quilted Maple back and sides that will give your guitar a completely unique look.  

So what is upgraded? The star of the show is the Expression System, a natural and transparent pickup system normally only featured on 300 series and above.

For decades, piezo-electric transducers have been positioned under the saddle of a guitar based on the long-held belief that the string and top vibration cause the saddle to "bounce" up and down. Taylor's electronics team discovered that the vertical movement is actually heavily restricted, and that the saddle gets "locked down" due to the string tension's downward pressure. That's why a traditional under-saddle pickup with piezo-electric crystals often responds with a sound often characterized as thin, brittle, brash or synthetic, especially with more aggressive playing.

Taylor moved the pickup from under the saddle to behind it. The new positioning enables the crystals to respond more naturally to the guitar's energy as it is transferred through the saddle. What this means is you get a warmer, richer sound. You can dig in and still sound great.

The ES2 features the same volume and tone control knobs as previous versions. The preamp is similar but with a slightly different gain structure. As a result it will be about 25 percent hotter, which is more in line with other pickups. This makes it plug-and-play friendly both for artists and live sound mixers.

Gorgeous quilted maple veneer brings stunning visual appeal to this special edition 200 Deluxe Series model.

The all-blonde Grand Auditorium body features layered maple back and sides (with both an outer and inner veneer of figured maple) and a solid Sitka spruce top.

A color-matched Hard Rock maple neck creates a smooth visual harmony with the body.

Complementary aesthetic details include white binding, Italian acrylic Small Diamond fretboard inlays, a gloss-finish body, and a Venetian cutaway.

The guitar is wired for performance with Taylor’s onboard Expression System 2 pickup and preamp, and comes with a deluxe hardshell case.
