Product Description

The Seymour Duncan SH-6B Duncan Distortion is one of the most popular pickups to come out of their factory in some time. It has joined the ranks of the '59, JB and Jazz models as one of the go to pickups for guitarists who need a solid and stable upgrade.

Made For Gain

Unlike the other pickups that I mentioned before the Duncan Distortion is a bit of a high gain metal machine. With a ceramic magnet and an extremely high output this pickup is made to be thrown through a high gain amplifier as loud as it can run.

Coil Tap

Because this pickup uses a 4 conductor lead wire you can still dial it back nice and easily by tapping the coils. This means you can achieve classic single coil like response in a guitar that has just two humbuckers. You never know when this extra sound can come in handy even when using a lot of gain.

Trembucker Spaced

This pickup is the trembucker spaced version meaning it is designed to work on guitars that use classic 'F' style bridges, hipshot hardware or Floyd Rose style tremolos.

Here's what Seymour Duncan say about the SH-6B Duncan Distortion Trembucker pickup.

The Duncan Distortion is our original high output humbucker. It incorporates a massive ceramic magnet and hot coil windings to deliver well-balanced rock and metal tones that have rich upper midrange harmonic content. Great for hard hitting, crunchy rhythms, and searing lead tone. Riffs are tight and percussive and lead work is fast and immediate with ultra-clear pick dynamics. Pair with the Jazz neck model for a versatile humbucker setup, or use the Duncan Distortion neck model for the a killer high output setup.Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA factory, the Duncan Distortion uses a large ceramic bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.

Designed for heavy sounds - Delivers in spades. It gives nice high output and stays tight at the bottom end. It has no problems at all going down to C or B tunings, it's just clear and articulate. The best thing here is the sheer value for money. This 40 year old design absolutely keeps up with more recent and much more expensive pickups. You can get some explosive tone for two thirds the price of a Nazgul, and half the price of a Bare Knuckle Aftermath. It's also not so over the top that you can't use it as a general purpose pickup. It has a great clean sound, and a nice bluesy crunch. I have mine as the only pickup in a strat body and I still have a lot of range and nuance.

Bought this for my little old Squier Showmaster. The pickups were ok. With the Trembucker Distortion in it, its now a bit of a monster! Thanks to Andertons for a fast delivery. Just need to replace the other pickups now. Up The Irons
