Product Description

Fender's CD-140Sce has been an extremely popular guitar. For its cost this guitar punches way above its price bracket meaning you can get a deep warm sound at a great price. Now they are changing it up a little bit with this guitar is it now has the option of a satin finish. This gives the guitar a new look and more open sound without going up in price.

Solid Top

One of the things you always want to search for when buying an acoustic is solid woods. While laminates deliver 90% of the performance only solid tops can really offer that full, warm sound for years to come. That is why Fender opted to use a real solid spruce top on a laminated mahogany body.

Because the top is the most important wood you get all of the beautiful tone you are expected but without having the spend loads for solid back and sides.

The neck like the back and sides is made out of mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard carved to a really comfortable "C" shape neck. This means that no longer how long you have been playing guitar you will be able to easily pick up and play this acoustic due to just how comfy the neck is.

Gig Ready

Compared to the CD-140S the CD-140SCE has a couple of very cool features that make it perfect for live use. Not only do you have a cutaway that makes it much easier play at the higher frets but you also have a built in preamp and pickup.

The Fishman Presys system is a brilliant little preamp built in to your guitar that lets you plug in to an acoustic amplifier or PA system so you can rock up to any gig plug in and play.

Satin Finish

While gloss guitars may have more to show under stage lights satin guitars certainly have a few key advantages. For one the neck is much smoother and easier to play when compared to the stickier gloss alternative and it allows for more movement in the wood. This means you get a much more dynamic and open sound that suits more delicate finger picked styles.

The Small Bits

They all add up. Fender have really gone over this guitar with a fine comb to find anywhere that isn't up to scratch so you get a great sounding and feeling guitar. Things like a Graph Tech NuBone nut and saddle which simulate the sound of much more expensive real bone components for a bright sound and a premium feel.

Here's what Fender say about the CS-140SCE Satin

The CD-140SCE dreadnought cutaway offers full, resonant sound and great value, with a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides.

Upgrades include a new tortoise shell pickguard (natural finish model) or black pickguard (black finish model), new mother-of-pearl rosette design, rosewood bridge with compensated Graphtech® Nubone™ saddle, aged bridge pins with black dots, mother-of-pearl Fender logo headstock inlay, and smaller (3 mm) dot fingerboard inlays. Features include scalloped X bracing, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard, dual-action truss rod and Fishman® Presys™ pickup system with active onboard preamp, tuner, volume and tone controls and low-battery indicator light.
