Product Description

Rift Amps may be well-known for their recreations of old-school Fender amplifiers, but the Plexi 18 pays homage to a classic that is far closer to home.

Based on the early '60s Marshall 18W 'Baby-Bluesbreaker', Rift's Plexi 18 takes you back in time to the golden era of UK rock. Wonderfully capturing that distinctive sound, the Plexi 18 also tips its hat to the original with its black and gold tolex/trim, to offer you a truly nostalgic vibe.

Rift Amps are hand built one at a time in the heart of England. If you would like your amp in a particular colour or with a different speaker, please contact us & we’ll get in touch with Rift to see if your request is possible.

Channels & Inputs

The Rift Amps Plexi 18 features 2 channels, with each one boasting hi/lo inputs that are made to suit instruments with contrasting input levels. The Lo inputs will suit passive low-output guitars far better, offering vibrant clean sounds with plenty of sparkle and mid-range push.

The Hi inputs can handle guitars with hotter pickups, taking the Plexi 18 into that glorious saturated Marshall-style overdrive that we all know and love. However, if you intend to use distortion, boost or fuzz pedals in conjunction with the Plexi 18, Input 2 is also better at coping with their stronger signals.

Speaking of pedals, although the Plexi 18 lacks an effects loop, it can still take stompboxes incredibly well. Remaining dynamic and responsive with pedals running through its front-end, the Plexi 18 ensures that your playing idiosyncrasies are heard.

The first channel is a simple affair, sporting a Volume and Tone control. However, channel 2 provides you with a full 3-band EQ section for improved sonic manipulation. A noteworthy aspect of the Plexi 18 is its sensitivity to your guitar's volume control, cleaning up beautifully when you roll down an overdriven tone.

Speaker & Cabinet

Despite the Plexi 18's tame 18W of power, this bold little amplifier is more than loud enough for gigging with. This is helped in part by its Warehouse Green Beret 1x12" speaker, which projects plenty of volume out of the Plexi 18's robust enclosure. Emitting focused lows and aggressive mids, this potent speaker accentuates the unbridled British tone of the Plexi 18.

The amp's open-back design also gives it an airy and untamed quality from a tonal perspective. In a studio environment, this means that you can mic up the cabinet from the rear and not just from the front, letting you attain a more three-dimensional sound.
