Product Description

Bit reduction at its finest. The Bitmap is a gorgeously gritty crusher that – for Red Panda – is relatively straightforward pedal. Each dial has a significant impact on the sound. This tactile nature combined with the high-quality, rich effects makes it genuinely usable unlike so many pedals of the same ilk.

Red Panda’s Bitmap works wonders in triangle, square or random wave forms. Apply the Bitmap’s fizzling textures to lead melodies with a soft grip on the mix, or let things really bounce with the mod setting turned on and the crush turned up. It has the capability to bubble and pop of its own accord, all whilst gliding smoothly from note to note.

About Red Panda

The boffins at Red Panda are all about pushing the boundaries of what can be done with natural, organic sounds. Forget your classic Klons and mundane reverbs, here it’s all trailblazing new effects using digital technology. This opens up the door for what can be achieved using the likes of guitars, keys and drum machines.

Red Panda are a small company focused on design process lasting 12-24 months. They use automated manufacturing to improve the reliability of their creations. All electronics are fully assembled in the USA, while the enclosures are CNC milled and powder coated in Canada.

Here's what Red Panda say about the BitMap 2:

The Bitmap™ is a bitcrusher with fractional bit reduction and sample rate modulation. The Bitmap 2 adds waveshaping, wavefolding, and a window comparator for extreme digital distortion. A drive control handles everything from single coil guitars to synthesizers, with +8 dBu maximum signal level and enough gain to sound like an overdriven mixer channel. Modulation and envelope control create dynamic, responsive distortion and digital artifacts.

The Bitmap 2 is tuned to provide maximum sustain without sputtering on staccato notes. Less extreme settings add layers of nonlinearities that interact in subtle ways, giving you the warmth and grit of 8- and 12-bit samplers. Sample rate reduction turns your guitar into 8-bit video game sounds or twists scales into inharmonic melodies. Sample rate modulation adds subtle motion or morphs your guitar into entirely new textures.

The Bitmap™ works with guitar, bass, synthesizers, drum machines, and other instruments or line level sources.
