Product Description

Dan Steinhardt and Mick Taylor of 'That Pedal Show' fame have teamed up with Athens-based stompbox artisans Jam Pedals to create a glorious harmonic tremolo aptly-named the "Harmonious Monk"! The pair first experienced this pleasant pulsating effect through their friend Joey Landreth (insert "name drop" horn sound...), who used an original '60s Fender Super amp in one of their earliest YouTube episodes. Dan and Mick have craved that spellbinding sound ever since, which the Harmonious Monk stunningly recreates in compact form!

Featuring all-analogue circuitry, 'Harmonic' and 'Amplitude' modes, two selectable LFOs (meaning 4 sounds in total), a master volume and true bypass switching - the Jam Pedals Harmonious Monk is easily one of the most comprehensive tremolos on the market. There's also an additional footswitch that lets you access two tremolo speeds instantly - in any mode!

The Perfect Collaboration

Dan Steinhardt and Mick Taylor have an extensive knowledge of guitar pedals. In fact, the dynamic duo has probably encountered just about every brand in the business! If they like a certain company's products then it's a huge compliment, and Jam Pedals really caught their attention a couple of years ago. The pair even visited their Greek headquarters in 2019, and through this visit they gained fantastic insight into how Jam Pedals builds its stompboxes - blown away by their hand-crafted approach at every stage of design and production.

After a few beers in Athens with the Jam Pedals team, the idea for the Harmonious Monk was born. In essence, a tremolo pedal that not only offers both harmonic and amplitude modes, but that also addresses the issues that Dan and Mick have had with their favourite examples of the breed before.

Tremendous Tremolo Tweaks

Key appointments required to meet Dan and Mick's demands included a master volume that allows you to go above and below unity gain, along with a thoughtful EQ control that makes the pedal sound balanced with all types of rigs. The duo also wanted just enough adjustability in the effect depth and mix to sit it perfectly with your tone, but perhaps most importantly - they really wanted it to be all-analogue for that unmistakeable richness of tone, depth and feel.

Here's what Dan and Mick had to say about the Jam Pedals Harmonious Monk: "Jannis and the team at Jam Pedals have done an incredible job. We are absolutely over the moon with how it has turned out, not to mention extremely proud of the opportunity to work at such an uncompromising level of build and finish."

Key Features

  • The Harmonious Monk uses all-analogue circuitry with two selectable LFOs providing varying levels of modulation intensity, available in both Harmonic and Amplitude modes: essentially four core sounds.
  • We have included both depth and mix controls, so you can get it sat just right in your overall tone.
  • Subtle (-) setting in Amplitude mode offers a plethora of vintage-inspired tremolo tones with all the same adjustability as Harmonic mode.
  • Intense (+) setting brings the chop! Stuttering, staccato pulses that add drama and rhythm to your music right up to a fast warble that can sound truly otherwordly.
  • We also added a footswitch so you can access two tremolo speeds instantly in any mode; internal trimmers to shape the EQ to your liking, and the ability to either boost or cut the overall output level to suit your rig and other pedals.
  • It’s true bypass and takes a standard Boss-style centre-negative 9VC DC adapter. Maximum current draw is around 35mA.
  • Let there be wobble! (And yes, Mick’s favourite setting is with everything at two o’clock in Subtle/Harmonic mode!)

Specifications

  • Size: (W) 75mm x (L) 118mm x (H) 56mm (inc. knobs/jacks and switches)
  • Power requirements:  DC supply only - no battery option.  9V DC, centre-negative. Current draw is 35mA (max)
  • Weight:  332g / 11.7oz

Awesome pedal! I've always preferred the harmonic to the amplitude tremolo, but both types on this unit are rich and smooth. The range of tones is more than I'll ever need, and the double speed function is really useful!
