Neunaber are known for their digital pedals, and they believe they've cracked a hyper realistic preamp sound with full on dynamic gain stages, built-in compression and noise gate. We have to agree with them.
The Neuron is a great preamp for rock and metal, in particular. The cleans are beefy and full frequency, while it can clock hefty overdrive or high gain with ease. This is a brilliant substitute for a real tube amp if you need to travel light, or require extended control over your amp's EQ features and parameters.
Gain is controlled through an analogue circuit in most preamp or overdrive pedal circumstances. But Neunaber have created an uncanny multistage gain that's sensitive to the amount you dial in. It ranges from subtle harmonic layering to crushing distorted tones. When combined with the mature compression setting, you have a truly wide scope to shape your sound.
Underneath the first set of basic EQ controls, you have access to a Noise Gate, Tightness dial, Tilt and Presence. As you can guess, the noise gate eliminates any unwanted bleed or hiss in modern, tight fashion. Tightness squeezes or releases your tone, so the Neuron can suit either contemporary or classic genres.
Yet another brilliant addition to the Neuron is the Tilt, which adapts your tone to various setups without having to alter the foundation of your sound. A great when going from gig to gig.
It can save up to a huge 24 presets via MIDI or six just on its own. Ideal for those of you who like to switch up your sound regularly.
