The VAD306 isn’t like other electronic kits. You can see that just by looking at it. It marries an acoustic look with a beating electronic heart. Roland continue to innovate in the percussion space and this is the latest result. They’ve produced a kit that both looks and sounds the part – whether you’re performing live or just practicing at home.

TD-17 Module

The TD-17 module is the centrepiece of this kit. Its packed to the brim with percussion, cymbals and drums from across the ages; a tonne of modern and vintage sets are just waiting to be explored here. Extensive sampling techniques mean you’ll have access to the best possible sounds too. Every single nuance of each instrument was captured in extreme detail using ultra-high-resolution audio. For example, every possible velocity was recorded to give you the best, most realistic playing experience possible!

Prismatic Sound Modelling adds the final sonic touches. This smart tech produces smoother transitions between each strike and guarantees a better range of tones.

Build Your Kit(s)

Using the TD-17 module, you’ve got instant access to a multitude of kits that are ready to use right out of the box. As part of this selection, there’s 10 acoustic-influenced presets which have been developed especially for the VAD306.

However, the real power and versatility comes from crafting your own signature kits from the ground up. This is simple to do using the intuitive hands-on editing tools. All of the elements from every kit can be mixed and matched with one another. This results in some seriously unique drum sets, stamped with your own individual sonic flavour. You could even load custom samples onto the module and then mix them with the built-in instruments. Experimentation is highly encouraged.

Add further layers to your sound by adjusting the tuning, switching out the heads, or applying muffling. Its even possible to place your kit in a number of different virtual spaces. This leads to some truly excellent sounding, natural reverbs.

Work on Your Chops

Onboard practice modes help you to develop better technique, all while tracking your overall progress. A metronome works to improve your timing; you can even record your playing on the fly and listen back to it. This is super useful if you want to pick out precisely what you need to improve on! In-built Bluetooth lets you play along with your favourite tracks from a laptop or mobile phone.

Space Saving Shells

The lightweight shallow shells don’t just save space; they deliver premium performance too. Custom sensors found on each drum deliver an incredible natural response. This has been combined with Roland’s renowned tension-adjustable, multi-ply mesh heads. These feel incredibly authentic to use and you can even tweak the level of stick rebound to suit your own style.

Further realism can be found in the bass drum. Each hit moves air within the shell, building a level of resistance and air pressure which is almost indistinguishable from playing a traditional kick.

A larger size of drum across the board (alongside a wooden construction) improves stick feel, accuracy, and further reinforces the acoustic aesthetic. The more natural, wider layout is instantly familiar to any drummer. As soon as you sit down behind it, you’ll be completely comfortable and ready to get stuck in.

Sturdy Hardware

Your cymbals and the drums themselves are mounted on sturdy double-braced chrome stands. This means they’re incredibly solid and reliable platforms while you play. They can be easily adjusted too to suit your personal preferences. Having stands like this doesn’t just create a more acoustic aesthetic – they lead to a more realistic playing feel as well!
