Product Description

Moog have dubbed the Sirin ‘the Analog Messenger of Joy’. If that doesn’t make you want one, then its stunning sound, charming design and lengthy list of features certainly will. Built on the Taurus formula, it’s been tweaked to play frequencies above middle C for beautiful melodic passages and soaring ambient leads.

Two Taurus Oscillators

Based on the Moog Taurus (and its line of descendants), the Sirin takes the classic dual-oscillator sound to the next level. The Sirin is the first of the Taurus family to pitch above middle C, opening up octaves of lead and ambient potential.

The sound engine has also been carefully engineered to be totally recallable and adjustable via MIDI. This is rare in the world of analog synths, especially at this price point. Connect it to your DAW via USB to send MIDI information, then use the free app/VST to adjust and save your sounds – up to 128 presets to be precise. You can even use the Sirin’s knobs to control parts of your DAW – magic.

Classic Moog Filter

This is a Moog synth, so the filtering is going to play a crucial part. They’ve pulled out all the stops for the Sirin; a 4-pole ladder filter as well as 2 ADSR filters can be tweaked in tandem to go from velvety sub-bass to tweeting toplines.

An onboard LFO comes with 6 modes (4 shapes, sample & hold and an extra mode that applies the filter envelope to the modulation destination) compared to the Minitaur’s 1 shape. Whether you’re after subtle movement in your parts or outright dizziness, the Sirin’s got you covered. On top of this, you can down the glide button to unlock hidden parameters using the controls.

A Joy to Behold

When Moog released the Grandmother in 2018, it was met with much excitement. It seems they’ve applied the colour-coded retro formula to the Sirin. A beautiful brushed stainless steel enclosure is decorated with with eye-catching blues, yellows and oranges.

The knobs are uniform in their styling – Moog’s big-style controls that are smooth and accessible. Finally, at the back, you’ve got MIDI, USB and audio connectivity, as well as a number of CV patch connections. This completes the picture; a truly versatile little synth that’s earned its place in the Moog family tree.
