Mahogany & Sitka Spruce
Solid tonewood is used throughout; Mahogany back and sides and a Sitka Spruce top. These highly resonant, durable woods have been carefully shaped to allow the perfect amount of vibration and projection. The resulting sound is familiar; bold with plenty of depth.
The slope-shoulder design (D-14), coupled with a tweaked low oval neck profile, makes for a wholly comfortable playing experience. Rosewood is used for the fretboard and bridge, and the picture is completed by a beautiful satin black finish, Ivoroid scratchplate and Golden Age Relic Nickel tuners. This is classic Martin, but with a few tricks up its sleeve.

The DSS-17 Black Smoke slope-shoulder is striking yet understated with its satin black smoke finish offset with mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlay, antique white binding, and ivoroid pickguard. The rosewood fingerboard and bridge pop against the rich black satin finish. It is crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides for a warm, comforting tone. The Dreadnought size adds depth and volume, while the slope-shoulder and modified low oval neck with high-performance taper make this guitar easy and comfortable to play.
