Product Description

Check out the LovePedal Hermida Dover Drive Pedal, a beautifully touch sensitive dirt box in a sleek design with a simple layout, Lovepedal have raised the bar yet again! Perfectly capturing the gain and dynamics of an overdrive, blended with the sustain and smoothness of a fuzz, Hermidas take on the classic overdrive box has defined the likes of David Gilmour, Eric Johnson and Billy Gibbons for years. Set the gain knob to around 9 o’clock and get a swampy, southern-cooked, blues rhythm that's nails Tres Hombres, or why not pump the  gain all the way up to create euphoric sparkling tones!

Here's what Lovepedal say about the LovePedal Hermida Dover Drive Pedal

Taking notes from Billy Gibbon’s chunky rhythm to Eric Johnson and David Gilmour’s soaring leads, the Dover drive is a touch sensitive device that walks a tightrope between an overdrive and a fuzz. Aimed to make your solos scream into the heavens and your riffs pound into the southern cooked trenches, this dynamic box gives you a round and creamy tone, smooth enough for jazz, tight enough for progressive rock, fat enough for blues and much more. Rolling back on your guitar’s volume and tone knobs will open up even more tonal possibilities.

FEATURES

  • Classic, touch sensitive, soaring leads b/w of chunky and pounding rhythm tones
  • -Internal bias control trim pot
  • -True Bypass switching, making sure your signal is preserved when the effect is off
  • -9VDC, center negative adapter or 9V battery / Current draw 10mA
  • -Made in USA
  • Controls:
  • -Volume – Controls the overall output of the effect. There’s a lot of it on tap too. You’ll find unity gain between the effected and bypassed signal around 8:00-9:00.
  • -Gain – Controls the distortion amount of the effect. Around 9:00 is good for a nice, bluesy rhythm. 1:00 and up starts to add sustain for leads, while remaining smooth and dynamic.
  • -Tone – Single band EQ will add or subtract presence to the effected signal. Rolling back around 10:00 will give a darker, rounder sound, while moving around 2:00 will add clarity.
  • -Bias Control- If you unscrew the the back of your Dover Drive, you’ll find a tiny trim pot toward the upper left of the board. Using a small flathead screwdriver, you are able to adjust the bias control of the effect. Turning it to the left will give it a starved, sharp attack with a charmingly, spitty quality to it. Turning it to the right will open it up more while smoothing out the decay and thus, offering more sustain.

Excellent overdrive pedal in the midst of a sea of mediocre hype. This pedal is great; it gives you everything from a little edgy grit to full blown overdrive that is bordering on fuzz. It is very touch responsive and amp like, unlike so may other OD's, cleaning up when you back off on the volume and attack. It's one of the best ones I have found, and I have tried a lot of them. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an amp-like, transparent overdrive.

I strictly use this pedal for sweet solos (not extreme rock and metal sound). I personally like this pedal strictly and only if I pluck one by one the strings. I do NOT like this pedal when I pluck more than one strings at a time, for chords (but not palm muting) I use the Onerr PD-1 Platinum Distortion. I use the Hermida Audio Dover Drive Lovepedal with my PRS Guitar because it is the best option for sweet solos (for extreme rock and metal solos I use Ibanez guitars with different pedals). I don't like and I don't use this pedal for bass strings on an electric guitar; I don't like the sound and I don't use it for the bass strings of an electric guitar. I love this pedal on an electric bass though, because all notes are bass there, thus there is no behavioural transition. This pedal sounds great with a moderate delay (Hermida Delay is perfect; and some PC Delays even greater); don't overdo it though because you lose the rhythm. It is my top pedal. I DO NOT use it for everything. I strictly use it for one-by-one plucked string SWEET solo, on the 4 higher strings of PRS guitars. It is certainly my most beloved pedal. I do NOT use it for extreme metal, thrashing and death metal, because other options are way better for these uses.

Instant Eric Johnson lead tones with a Fender AVRI Strat, gain at 12-1 o'clock and tone around 10-12 o'clock. Lots of gain and volume (equal volume is around 9-10 o'clock). Fun to play. have not tried internal trim pot yet.

I am very happy with the LovePedal Hermida Dover Drive Pedal. For years I have been a big fan of Dave Gilmour and had lots of attempts at achieving some of his tones. Even going as far as stage where I bought ever pedal he uses. After slimming my pedal board down and getting my own sound, I needed a drive with fuzz like characteristics and this pedal delivers in spades. It allows me to do the Gilmour thing but still sound like me.

Better than expected. I've seen moaning on forums about lovepedal saying that their products are hyped up. I've purchased a lot of pedals and this is one of the best drives I've used. It has a beautiful, warm drive that is touch sensitive and reacts well to picking dynamics. It does come close to EJ's tone. So far I've only tried it with ufnal single coils and it sounds fat, warm and sustaining with the ability to add clarity in the highs without becoming harsh. Andertons ordering and delivery service is excellent, they even changed the delivery address for me afterwards. Great product price too. I'm now looking at the red hermida overdrive. Thanks Andertons
