Kauer Guitars Korona Single Cut in Pelham Blue

The Korona name

There are a couple reasons why the Korona bears its name. It's based on Doug Kauer's KR1 shape, a vintage-meets-modern fusion offset with a huge upper fret cutaway and slim back contour. Kauer also wanted to bring a bit of goodwill during a difficult time. The company have raised over $30,000 for food bank and disaster relief charities from the original few pre-orders.

Custom Construction

All Kauer guitars are handmade in sunny California using premium woods and gloriously precise electronics. What you get here is an outstanding tone and ultra smooth finish to the build. This particular Korona features a thermo pine (otherwise known as baked or roasted) body, which gives it a darker colour and rids the wood of impurities. This is Doug's personal favourite pick.

The C shape neck and 25.5” scale length combo will be familiar to many “modern vintage” players with experience playing the biggest brand electrics. The roasted maple gives the instrument a fantastic warm hue of the highest quality.

Lollar Pickups

“Both pickups come courtesy of magnet supremo Jason Lollar, with a J-Street single-coil in the bridge and a shiny PAF-style custom El Rayo in the neck position. The latter was voiced specifically for the Kauer Korona model to bring out all the inherent snap and detail of the design.” - Guitar.com

Kauer guitars come equipped with the masterfully made Lollar pickups. The J-Street T-style-inspired single coil delivers hot output with a heavy low-end, prominent upper midrange and highs similar to a P90. The neck position Imperial is Lollar's take on the classic PAF, boasting complex overtones and a tight but smooth low to midrange voicing.
