Great sounding pedal. A nice addition to my expanding pedal board and my go-to overdrive at present. If you're considering this, be aware that it has a charge pump which may create some minor audible interference with some other pedals.

Does more than just boost gives that thing that is missing from most amps tried through BB combo two fenders my Artisan 15 combo my classic 30 combo and JVM Marshall all now better for this pedal

Using it as a clean-ish boost with gain around 9-11 o'clock and it definitely has that magic thing that enhances the tone and sustain, especially for single notes. Tons of clean headroom to push a tube preamp to saturation if you want.
Cannot compare it to the original Klon but this thing plays great. Stacking with other OD pedal makes them sound better to my ears.

Having watched a stack of reviews and applications on youtube.com I wasn't sure if I was going to use it as clean boost or as a full fat OD pedal.
The first thing I noticed as I removed it from the very cool Rockett Pedals branded box, is that this pedal is hefty! it feels like it should be twice the price or more. Now all reviews are subjective and are based totally on the player and the gear being used and I use a Gibson Les Paul Traditional into a Marshall JCM2000 DSL 100 head and Marshall 1936v cab and a Marshall DSL 40C (brighter sounding than the JCM2000).
So upon firing up the Archer, the first thing that hits you is the clarity. Either on its own or driving the input of my amps there is no wolleyness or tone suckage from this pedal, like the Rothwell Hellbender it is very transparent. The second thing I noticed is that the tone control is very responsive and you can go from warm mellow to shrill fizz in the space of a gnats wedding tackle so you need to be very careful with this control, the output control seems to alter the overall output volume as you would expect although it kind of responds differently depending on the application of the pedal.
Using this pedal as a clean boost the volume knob does increase the overall volume when running into the front of a clean amp, but when pushing the front end of a slightly dirty amp it boosts volume as well as slightly increasing the gain. When using the pedal as full fat OD pedal, the volume acts pretty much exclusively as a volume boost for the pedal. I have not yet had a chance to use this pedal with an 18v supply to see how much of a difference the alleged extra headroom makes.
Back to the plot! It would appear that I would have to completely re-EQ my amps in order to use this pedal as a full fat OD which I am not prepared to do at this point, so I am resigned to using it a boost pedal. I currently use my TS808 with the gain off and the level/tone to taste, and I use it in front of my Rothwell Hellbender to act as a solo boost to give my sound more of a mid bump and a slight level/gain boost and to be honest, it is just great. However I also sometimes use the TS808 on its own to give me nice clean crunch sound with a ton of dynamics for more bluesy numbers, but the TS808 does seem to **** a little life from the tone which is nice in some ways as it gives a very vintage feel, but you do loose some of the signal clarity.
So setting the Archer up in a very similar way (output 11 o'clock treble 10 o'clock and gain 9 o'clock) I am very pleased with the initial result as I am sure I will be spending copious amounts of time in the future tweaking this pedal. What I have noticed when using the Archer in this way is that it does give me that slight level/gain boost for solos which sounds great but it doesn't have as much of a mid bump. Now this is not all bad as the Archer appears to be totally transparent preserving the pure tone of the Marshall amp and the Rothwell Hellbender without any kind of colouring. My sound appears to have so much more clarity and definition, while accentuating nuances of my tone when I dig in and pinch harmonics, backing of the guitar volume whilst using the TS808 in this way would result in loss of clarity and definition and making the sound go a little muddy, but with the Archer it just cleans up so well even with the extra gain going through the signal, music to all us blues guitarist's ears!
In conclusion, but I can only conclude my findings based on using the pedal as boost, I would give this pedal an initial 7.9 out of 10 although I feel there is so much more to gain given time and much tweakage.

This is a great pedal, couldn't believe how tiny it is though! Certainly not flimsy, well made quality enclosure.
It also has the added benefit of sounding absolutely fantastic. Definitely one of those 'on all the time' pedals. I can't really describe it except to say it just makes your sound better.

I have an original zilver Klon and it sounds great but I wanted some smaller pedals on the board and to me this J Rockett pedal is just as good but in a nice small package.

Very please, this is an outstanding pedal that certainly packs a considerable "punch'. This pedal is highly recommended and a worthy contender to the Klon Centaur.

Well worth the wait - infront of a decent valve amp, this is just the best OD/boost ever. Really natural and responsive - just as good as the hype.
