Product Description

Ibanez are renowned for their huge and established electric guitar range, however they also boast a world-class acoustic line that can keep up with the very best. The Artwood series is a mid-priced range, however their modest prices are not indicative of their quality, as they punch well above their weight!

Construction

The AVC9CE-OPN is part of the Vintage Thermo Aged line, with its tonewoods undergoing a baking process that dries the wood. This basically gives the feel and sound of an old vintage acoustic instrument (hence the name), producing a richer tone with improved projection.

With Mahogany back and sides, you can feel assured that this instrument provides a great level of tonal depth and resonance. A matching Mahogany top offers a high-end look, adding some extra warmth to chords and a rounded response to fingerpicked arpeggios. With a open pore finish, nothing hinders the sound of the instrument, meaning that you get a purer tone with improved sustain.

The beautiful body woods are joined with a Mahogany neck, offering a substantial yet comfortable feel. Adorned with an Ovangkol fretboard, this gives a smooth touch under the fingers for chords or more intricate playing.

Electronics

With such premium tonewoods, Ibanez ensure that the electronics in their electro-acoustic guitars are of an equally high standard. The Fishman Sonicore pickup is discreetly out of sight and unobtrusive, but still provides clear and vibrant sounds that fully translate the tonal qualities of the woods.

Paired with an Ibanez-designed AEQ-SP2 preamp, you can be assured to get plenty of power when plugged into a PA system. A 2-band EQ lets you tame or boost any treble and bass frequencies, letting you fine-tune the sound of the guitar to the room that you're performing or recording in. The ergonomic built-in tuner is another forward-thinking feature, an essential in the 21st Century.

Here's what Ibanez say about the AVC9CE-OPN Artwood Vintage Thermo Aged Electro Acoustic:

The Artwood Vintage series now showcases another vintage element by applying an "aging" process to the tonewood : "Thermo Aged™" tone wood, made by a special drying process at a high temperature which is commonly known as "baking" or "torrefaction."

I really enjoy the simplicity of this guitar. It’s bright string sound is well balanced with the dry warmth of the wood. The neck is open pore which is a much different experience than that of a high lacquer instrument. Tuners are just fine. Having the saddle and nut bone will be a great selling point. Most of all the look of these art wood vintage instruments are that of a peice of treasured furniture in your home. I’m positive any variant will be a pleasure to own.
