Product Description

The Q (Quest) Series encompasses Ibanez's most progressive electric guitars to date. Developed from the ground up, these cutting-edge instruments cater for the newest generation of players — those who seek portable, ergonomic tools that can keep up with the increasingly technical and flamboyant styles spreading across modern rock and metal music.

Features for the Forward-Thinking

Headless guitars are pushing far beyond the formulas of the past, and Ibanez has fully embraced this shift in contemporary instrument design with its Q Series. Boasting a number of additional unique elements intended to maximise tone, performance and playing comfort — including custom-made pickups, a 'dyna-MIX' switching system, a highly-adjustable 'Mono Tone' bridge and a proprietary string-locking mechanism — the Q Series makes guitarists of all disciplines question the full scope of their creative potential.

Ibanez QX52 - Slanted Frets for Enhanced Playability!

With its flat-radius, slanted-fret fingerboard — Ibanez's QX52 model is definitely one for the more "extreme" players! Although subtle compared to fully-fanned fret guitars, the QX52's distinctive 8-degree fret angle enables technically-proficient guitarists to execute fast, intricate techniques more efficiently as the slant accommodates the natural inward tilt of your fingers. It makes perfect sense when you think about it!

Key Features

  • Ergonomic Q Series Design — The compact, lightweight body features a number of strategically-placed curves on both the top and back; boosting comfort. Headless neck reduces total instrument length to just 80 centimetres!
  • Nyatoh Body — An ideal tonal foundation for the HH pickup layout; offering a rich mid-range and tight low-end.
  • Roasted Maple/Bubinga Neck — 3-piece construction ensures rock-solid stability in changeable climates and conditions.
  • Parallel Wizard Profile — Neck is 19mm thick all the way through the entire length; providing a consistent fretting-hand experience for guitarists who prefer their instrument held in a higher playing position.
  • Roasted Birdseye Maple Fretboard — Heat-treated for a balanced attack and rich sustain. Has plenty of exotic flair too!
  • 24 Jescar EVO Gold Frets — Material is renowned for its durability, vibrant tone and silky-smooth feel; allowing for effortless string bending.
  • Luminescent Side Dots — Glow-in-the-dark markers will always let you know where you're at, even on the most ill-lit stages!
  • Custom String Lock — 1-piece unit features a very simple design; meaning less maintenance, great longevity and easy string changes. No specialised string is required, so you can continue to use your favourite gauge and brand!
  • Mono Tune Bridge — Provides a wide intonation range; making it straightforward to set the instrument up for drop-tunings. String height is also easily adjustable.
  • Proprietary Q58 Pickups — Designed specifically for the Q Series, these humbuckers deliver a thick yet clearly-defined sound; facilitating excellent balance through all frequencies.
  • dyna-MIX10 Switching System — Offers 10 pickup variations for a wide sonic palette. Can switch between humbucker and single-coil modes with just a flick of the mini alter switch!
  • Included Gig Bag — Durable construction protects the guitar against knocks on the road.

Guitar feels fantastic. The natural finish on the neck and matte finish on the body make it very smooth to play. The body is reminiscent of the Ibanez S series shape which is thin and comfortable to play. The sound is very pleasing to my ears, for the price I prefer it even to my more expensive Strandberg and Ibanez guitars. Truly a great instrument. Excited to see if they continue developing this line in the future.

An absolute joy to play. I've always thought that a slanted fret guitar would be a good idea - if you're like me and find barre chords near the nut a (literal) pain then check out the QX52 range. The guitar is so light you hardly notice having it hanging round your neck and the slanted frets are so intuitive to use I'm amazed nobody has done this before. The only thing I don't like is the very small fret markers used. These are very difficult to see and could do with a better contrast between fretboard and fret markers. Other than that, I'd say the QX52 is pretty much the perfect guitar with a deep, pleasing tone and stability that you wouldn't expect from an instrument that's so light and manageable. I'm playing this through a Boss Katana currently, it really is a revelation compared to my other guitars from Ormsby, Ibanez and Jackson.
