The Ibanez RGD is an extension of the iconic RG guitar, quite literally! With a longer 26.5" scale length, the RGD is built with the drop-tuning metaller in mind.
Keeping the sharp and elegant RG aesthetics intact, the RGD has smooth contoured edges on the upper bout and lower cutaway. This gives the guitar a more modern, ergonomic feel for improved playability, and the RGDIR6M-LBM has a number of other high-end features despite its modest price-point. This most notably includes a pair of potent DiMarzio Fusion Edge pickups as well as a Gibraltar Standard II fixed bridge.
The RG has always been a stellar instrument built purely for performance, and the RGD takes that philosophy one step further. With a bolt-on construction, you can expect a bright and snappy sound, giving excellent attack to notes even on the lowest string. The Mahogany body provides a more pronounced low-end compared to most of its RG counterparts, adding more depth to heavy riffs or chords.
A 3pc Maple/Purpleheart neck will provide plenty of stability, keeping your tuning and setup in check in almost all conditions. The notoriously thin Nitro Wizard neck profile will let you play fast, technical solos without hindrance, even with the slightly longer scale.
This exceptional instrument is powered by a pair of DiMarzio Fusion Edge pickups, capable of handling high doses of gain. Giving you lots of saturation and top-end clarity, these are perfect for heavier genres of music, but they're not one-trick ponies. With clean settings, these pickups offer a vibrant and articulate tone, ideal for playing chords or angelic arpeggios with.
The solid Gibraltar Standard II fixed bridge has an ergonomic design, ensuring that your right hand is comfortable when playing technical palm-muted riffs. With all hardware appointments finished in black, this super-sleek looking guitar will inspire you to just pick it up and play!
Here's what Ibanez say about the Iron Label RGDIR7M-LBM in Laser Blue Matte:
The RGD is Ibanez's ultimate metal machine. The demands of down-tuning require a specifically designed responsiveness not found in "normal" guitars. To optimize for the rich, desirable thickness of tone that down-tuning produces, we extended the neck by one inch to a 26.5" scale. Longer-than standard yet not overly long. The neck is still considered a "fast" neck for speed soloing. Extra-deep cutaways grant comfortable access to the necks highest notes.
