Product Description

The Chapman ML1 Modern Standard is a dual-humbucker guitar that combines classic design with a modern edge. Punchy pickups, a vibrant finish and comfortable playability makes the ML1 Modern a performance instrument through and through. Better still, the V2 models are made in a new factory - boasting baked tonewoods for improved resonance and durability, improved rolled fretboard edges and US-made pickup magnets. They're onto a winner...

New & Improved Pickups

All V2 Chapman instruments are equipped with brand new pickups made in-house in their new factory. Unlike their previous pickup designs, these feature high-quality magnets sourced from the US. Many guitar pickups use generic magnets, the same that you might find in cars or household appliances. These, however, are tailor-made for use in guitars! If you thought the previous humbuckers and single coils sounded great, you’ll love the fresh tone of these precisely-wound models.

Chapman has also re-voiced the pickups to provide crisper articulation, a more pronounced mid-range and smoother low and high-end frequencies. You’re guaranteed to get studio sound quality and brilliant definition in live use; cutting through the mix effortlessly!

Body & Neck

Chapman have opted for Mahogany for the body, providing you with uncompromising sustain, rich lows and pumping mids. With several body contours, including carves around the lower cutaway; the ML1 Modern Standard is extremely comfortable and allows you to easily access its upper frets.

For the neck, Chapman has opted for smooth satin-finished Maple, with a bolt-on configuration featuring a velute. This reinforcement, combined with a dual-action truss rod, means sturdy tuning stability and excellent proficiency with drop-tuning. The slippery satin finish and familiar C-shaped neck means that you'll feel right at home - whatever your style!

Hardware & Electronics

Chapman have loaded the V2 ML1 Modern Standard with two Sonorous Zero humbuckers; power, clarity and punchy mids perfectly complement the Mahogany and Maple construction. Expect soaring sustain and a crystal-clear top-end, clean or distorted.

A 3-way blade pickup switch and a push-pull coil-tap vastly expands your tonal palette. What first appears to be a simple HH configuration suddenly becomes a hugely versatile instrument that'll efficiently handle whatever you throw at it. Top it off with a Graph Tech Tusq XL nut and alluring black hardware across the board, and you've struck the perfect balance between versatility and attitude.

Previously bought the ML1 Bartitone from Andertons. A beast of a guitar. Liked it so much that I bought this V2 ML1 standard scale model a few weeks later! It is more purple in real life than in the picture (like something Prince would have played! Love it!) For me it is the perfect guitar because it has massive versatility. Biting rock tones, funky split coil cleans, warm humbuckers). I read a few reviews that talk about the pickups being a bit muddy. In my humble opinion, if you dial in the right settings on your amp or modeller, you can achieve all desired tones. Honestly it feels like I have my Ibanez, strat, and les paul wrapped up in one guitar but it has it's own unique personality. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am. Constantly reaching for it. Inspiration machine. Yes, you could say i am a fan! ;)

I'm a beginner guitar player, and my progress was hindered by having a not so good quality guitar, which wasn't the best to play. There is a considerable difference how it feels to play my new Chapman guitar, that keeps me motivated.

Exceptional guitar and remarkable value for money. Lovely to play, and very well made. The pick-up configuration affords an incredible range of different sounds. Wonderfully versatile axe.

Lovely guitar. I thought this was going to be a cricket bat of a guitar given it's price, but it plays beautifully and the craftsmanship is mind blowing given that it's made in Indonesia. The pick-ups are nice and hot, without being over powering. I would stand this against ANY Jackson or Ibanez of twice the price. Yes it's that good!
