The Fire Custom Active Volume is an ergonomic, feature-packed volume pedal that serves more than one purpose.
If you have a large complicated pedalboard with lots of cabling, or just run a long cable from your guitar into your pedalboard, you will lose top-end from your sound. To resolve this, you will need a buffer. A buffer changes your signal from high impedance to low impedance, meaning that you can retain that precious high-end clarity.
This is why the Active Volume pedal has a built-in input buffer. You’d normally want to place a buffer as early in your signal chain as possible, so that it changes the impedance as soon as conceivable. You’d also try and place a volume pedal near the start of the chain for smoother swells - two birds, one stone!
It’s buffered input also means that you can run almost any instrument through the pedal. So, if you’re an ultra-talented multi-instrumentalist or in the studio a lot, you can run most passive or active instruments through the Active Volume pedal no problem.
You can also plug your tuner pedal into the Active Volume’s buffered tuner output. This means that your signal will not run through the tuner, reducing the length of your cable run to retain tone.
Just put the Active Volume in heel-down position for silent tuning!
Here's what Fire Custom Shop says about the Active Volume Pedal
Active Volume Pedal with buffered input to accommodate different signals from any instrument, passive or active, guitar or bass, in the beginning or in the end of a pedal board setup, or even other instruments such as lap steel guitars, keyboards, harmonicas etc.
Isolated Buffer Tuner Output let you use whatever tuner you want without causing any signal loss and tune silently or at any volume.
High quality integrated buffer circuit helps your rig setup, preventing any signal loss due to long cables, connections and pedals.
