The Stone Deaf is the follow on from their amazing PDF-1 drive that found its way on to many pedalboard across the world. Artists like Josh Homme have relied on the original PDF-1 to produce a lot of his overdrive sounds over the last few years. With two footswitches, two modes and plenty of other built in options this is the one pedal you need to control EQ, Boost and Distortion.
Pedalboards are getting overly complicated now, especially for those that like to have ultimate control of every aspect of their tone at their feet. With the PDF-2 you get to shrink down your pedalboard however as it works as an EQ, Boost and Distortion all in one using two modes, Gain, height, frequency and bandwidth controls so you can dial in the tone that best suits your guitar and amplifier every time.
We all have that one pedal that sounds amazing with clean tones but over saturates on drive or sounds great with drive but crunches up your clean sound so it isn't really that clean. That is why the PDF 2 is built in to two modes so you can switch between your clean and dirty versions of the pedal with the press of a switch. This is a great choice if you still want the EQ change on your clean tone but don't want to always have that amount of gain.
Here's what Stone Deaf say about the PDF-2 Overdrive Pedal:
The PDF-2 and its unique parametric distortion filter is a completely new look on what a drive pedal should be. Featuring an ultra-sculptable parametric EQ and a foot-switchable clean and dirty channel, players are able to conjure everything from smooth overdrive tones to wild and ferocious distorted tones and all the way to cocked wah and completely unapologetically filtered sounds. Now add in on-the-fly tone sculpting or foot-controlled phaser and wah sounds via the optional Stone Deaf EP-1 expression pedal and you’re in for quite the super-sonic ride!
• Wide gain range - from light overdrive to wild distortion
• Switchable clean and dirty channel - use parametric EQ on clean as well as dirty tones
• Highly sculptable Parametric EQ - For a world of distorted tones
• Phaser/Wah functionality via Stone Deaf EP-1 active expression pedal
• Top-mounted I/O
• Handmade in the UK
• True-Bypass switching
• Powered by opt. 9V PP3 battery or PSU (9V DC, centre -, 2.1mm, ~30mA current draw)
The very popular PDF-1 was Stone Deaf’s first product and has been used by infamous guitarists such as Josh Homme, Nick Valensi and many others. As the younger brother and the successor to the original pedal, the PDF-2 improves on the design with a reduced noise floor, adjustable gain knob and a dual foot-switch for clean and dirty channels.
PDF-2 is one hell of a versatile pedal that’s applicable to many instruments. From Electric Piano, Bass, Drums and Synths, to Electric and Acoustic Guitars, this little beast of a circuit has proven itself as one of the most useful pedal based EQ, Boost and Distortion devices on the market.
Add a Stone Deaf EP-1 active expression pedal to the expression input control and on top of the impressive regular tone shaping features, PDF-2 can also be used for wah, phaser and manual tonal shifts to give you even more tonal creativity.
