Product Description

Earthquaker Devices are renowned for their unique, otherworldly pedals. It's therefore no surprise that their spin on the classic tremolo pedal has some experimental twists, to cater for the quirkiest of tone chasers! And that is the Night Wire, a harmonic tremolo pedal that gives you warm throbbing sounds, yet stretches to attain other familiar effects.

Weird & Wonderful Sounds

Thanks to Earthquaker's cutting-edge circuit wizardry, the Night Wire processes your guitar's input signal by splitting it between high and low-pass filters. This is then put through an LFO, which modulates the signal to give you sounds that aren't too dissimilar from vibe and phasing effects.

This means that the Night Wire is a hybrid pedal of sorts, striking the balance between vintage-style tremolo and sweet modulation - with very musical results. But rather than sticking with the traditional harmonic tremolo design, you also have the ability to change their centre points via the frequency mode switch. If this is set to manual, you can manipulate the placement of this via the dedicated Frequency control.

LFO mode keep the filters moving for a consistent tremolo effect, with the Frequency control enacting as a speed control. Attack mode is a different beast however, allowing the tremolo effect to react to your playing dynamics, much like a ducking delay. In this mode, the Frequency knob serves as a range control, akin to an envelope filter.

Modern Functions

A conventional Depth control lets you set the tremolo from subtle to dramatic, whilst the Rate acts like a master speed control. A Level control is unusual on a tremolo stompbox, and this allows you to adjust the total output of the pedal. This means that you can match it to your unaffected signal for a seamless transition, or have it louder for a cool dynamic boost.

Earthquaker's new Flexi-Switch is deceiving, giving you more functionality than just turning the unit on or off. Momentary mode lets you hold your foot on the pedal to engage the effect, and as soon as you release pressure it will disengage. This gives you more creative freedom than ever before!
