Product Description

One Control's Jubilee Red AIAB ("amp-in-a-box") pedal is a modern high-gain distortion pedal with tonal roots descending from the legendary Silver Jubilee series of British amplifiers that were created in the late '80s. These particular amps heavily influenced later designs, with their switchable 25/50/100-watt output sections, switchable gain channels, and enhanced mid-range controls. An original model or even a reissue of this amp will cost a pretty penny, but the One Control Jubilee Red harnesses the sound of the legendary "Silver" amplifier at just a fraction of the cost!

The Jubilee "Sound"

The signature Jubilee sound is an extension from the Plexi/JMP series of amps. While these have an earlier, less-gainy type of rock tone — the Jubilee series amps had a much hairier high-gain character, with a more focused mid-range presence that was favoured by rock guitarists including Slash, John Frusciante, and Joe Bonamassa.

With One Control's Jubilee Red AIAB pedal, you have access to one of the most coveted and musical distortion sounds ever created — offering an enhanced mid-range control as well as low-noise performance. The pedal pairs perfectly with either humbucker or single-coil pickups, including high-output and active designs. It is also very well-suited to handle the extra low-end of 7 and 8-string guitars.

One Control 'BJF Series' Pedals

One Control are well-known for their pedal switchers and pedalboard management devices, but they also make their own effects — the BJF Series! These mini pedals are designed by Björn Juhl, a legend within the stompbox sphere who's highly regarded for his work with Mad Professor, Barefoot FX and his own company, BJFE. These stompboxes not only sound great, but save precious pedalboard real-estate too!

Björn Juhl on the Jubilee Red:

"Though it was primarily designed for metal style music, the playability of the Jubilee Red that makes each note on the fretboard about equal can absolutely be used for other styles, certainly for heavier lead playing in any genre. It allows for very fluid note playing along the entire fretboard at any gain setting."

"The 'Mid control sets the depth of the mid-notch and it is centred at 600hz the tone control network creates a mid-notch, while turning up the 'Mid' knob lessens the notch and flattens the tonal response. The 'Treble' knob is technically a tone-balance that sets the balances of treble and bass points around a mid-notch, and the treble shelf is about 2kHz while the bass hump appears around 100hz."

Great range of sounds from this pedal, absolutely nails the Marshall sound, and responds well to different levels of attack. It also stacks well with other overdrives.
