Bogner Wessex Overdrive Pedal

Written by

Jed Van Wyngaardt

This latest range of pedals from amp genius Reinhold Bogner has been co designed with transformers coming from none other than Rupert Neve. Known for redfining the rock sound with rich overtones and excellent harmonics Rupert Neve's amazing transformers have made their way in to this pedal for the best classic rock sound possible.

The Wessex is the most versatile of the overdrives coming from Bogner and Rupert Neve. Going from a nearly clean low gain boost like drive to a modern rock vibe this amp has a lot of range so you can dial in your tone. If you are after something with a nice blues and rock tone you can not go wrong with the Wessex.

Simple To Set Up

With just four knobs and a single 2 way switch it is so simple to get this pedal set up with the rest of your rig. Set the treble and bass controls around your guitar and amplifier for optimal tone and then match the level to the clean channel of your amplifier. Finally crank up the gain and let this incredible overdrive become the second channel to your clean amplifier.

One really cool control on the pedal is the 2 way toggle at the top. In N or normal mode you get the pedal how it was designed with a flat and transparent response, perfect if you love the tone of your amplifier. In E or enhanced mode it curves to have a bit of the classic 'smiley EQ' with boosted highs and lows for a punchier modern sound.

A Pedal Like No Other

Bogner and Rupert Never have spent and incredible amount of time fine tuning not only the transformer but the pedals themselves. The goal was to capture that classic rock studio tone that became part of the Rupert Neve sound. If you wanted this sound previously the only way was a massive mixing desk worth thousands, now it is at your feet in this pedal.

Here's what Bogner say about the Wessex Overdrive Pedal

Delivering classic low gain growl to rich modern scorch, the Bogner Wessex overdrive pedal with its 100% analog circuit gets its extraordinary dimensional range from a custom transformer designed by legendary audio pioneer Mr. Rupert Neve. Whether you want to give your clean amp some muscle or juice up your vintage amp's gain, flick the tone-altering Enhance/Neutral switch to find your own dirty nirvana.
