The EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run V2 transcends the delay category. In typical EarthQuaker fashion, it offers a wealth of controls and parameters that can be tweaked and interwoven to create complex and abstract textures, the likes of which are hard to find anywhere else.
Offering three distinct modes - Norma, Reverse and Swell - it boasts improved stereo imaging and a more complex algorithm than its predecessor, as well as tap tempo, an expression pedal input and much more. This really is the peak (excuse the pun) of digital and experimental delay effects!
- Normal Mode - Straight up delay and reverb, with up to 2 seconds of delay time to play with.
- Reverse Mode - As the name suggests, the delay signal is reversed to create abstract ambient sounds.
- Swell Mode - Adds a volume swell that responds to the attack of your input signal.
- Controls: Time, Repeats, Tone, Mix, Decay, Ratio, Mix, Expression
Limited Edition RYO Finish
EarthQuaker Devices make some weird and unconventional stompboxes, so it's therefore no surprise that the idea for its limited edition RYO-finished Avalanche Run V2 came from something pretty abstract:
"The other night, after eating a full box of cheese flavored snacks right before bed, we had a dream that the Avalanche Run V2 had morphed into a silver and yellow demonic creature. Upon waking, we thought, hmm – eating that whole box of cheesy things at midnight might not have been our greatest idea. Then we thought, ya know – that Avalanche Run did look pretty sweet.
Now our weird dream has become a reality! We decided to make a handful of special hammertone silver and yellow Avalanche Run V2 RYOs (non demonic). We think they’re pretty spiffy, so grab one while you can!"
In EarthQuaker's Words...
The Avalanche Run is a dreamy stereosonic exploratory multi-tool that includes up to 2 seconds of delay time, reverse delay, tap tempo with subdivision control, switchable true bypass or buffered bypass with 5 different tail lengths (including a sound-on-sound style lo-fi looping mode) and an assignable expression control that maps the expression jack to a control of your choice, including the toggle!
The delay section allows tweaking from tape emulation to bucket brigade styles with a twist of the wide-range Tone control. The cavernous, plate-style reverb has just a touch of modulation similar to the one found in our precious Dispatch Master only more lush with an adjustable Decay. Otherworldly reverse delay and dynamic swelling reverb settings are accessible through a 3-way toggle switch. And that’s just the beginning...
