EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run Delay Pedal

Written by

Jed Van Wyngaardt

Please note that this pedal comes with a US power supply

The EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run is one of the most powerful digital stereo delays we have ever seen. Featuring a bunch of different modes that can capture everything from your basic stereo delay to massive chorus of tone with tape emulation and up to 2 seconds of delay time.

Controls On The Front

On the front of this pedal you have loads of control right at your feet. You can alter not only the Time and Mix like on other pedals but also the amount of repeats and the tone of the delay That is on top of the separate decay and mix controls for a set of built in reverb that really gives you a lot of control. Not to mention that any of these controls can be controlled via an external expression controller.

Three Modes

At the bottom of the pedal you will find a 3 way switch that takes you through a few of the different modes built in. Normal for your standard delay sounds, nice and simple. Reverse is an interesting effect that ends up sounding quite out there and ethereal when left running with a long delay time. Swell brings in the reverb with a smooth effect that comes in over time.

Here's what EarthQuaker Devices say about the Avalanche Run Pedal

We'll start shipping preorders late-March (that means that you'll be the first to get it if you order here).  You'll also receive some extra Reverb goodies as a thanks.

Just when you thought the maniacs at EarthQuaker Devices couldn't push the envelope further comes the Avalanche Run: a massively open-ended stereo delay and reverb that brings a powerful DSP platform to the EarthQuaker arsenal for the first time.

The Avalanche Run is a sonic exploratory multi-tool that includes up to 2 seconds of delay time, reverse delay, tap tempo with subdivision control, sound-on-sound looping, and an assignable expression control. The delay section allows tweaking from tape emulation to bucket brigade styles, and the cavernous plate-style reverb has just touch of modulation reminding us of the Dispatch Master and Afterneath.  Otherworldly reverse delay and a swell reverb settings are accessible through a 3-way switch, and an expression knob maps any function to an expression pedal.

The Avalanche Run represents not only new territory for Earthquaker Devices, but an entirely new experience for the noise-loving musicians of planet earth.
