Fender first introduced the Strat in the 1950s and what an impact it made! Rock n Roll was born and Fender helped create a sound that changed popular music forever. Although there have been several design changes to the Strat over the years - most notably to the neck, the pick ups and the trem system - many guitar players still prefer the early designs.
One of the biggest design changes to happen to the Strat in the early 60s was the introduction of the C shaped neck profile. This slimmer neck design was an instant success and the C shape profile is still the most popular neck design on modern Fender guitars. The special features on the Classic Player 60s Strat include upgraded '69 pickups, a "Custom Shop Designed" neckplate, a custom two-point vintage bridge (never before offered outside the Custom Shop!) and a 12" fingerboard radius.
Here's what Fender say about the Classic Player 60s Strat
Designed by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder, Greg Fessler, the '60s Stratocaster guitar features an alder body, C-shaped maple neck with 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard and 21 medium jumbo frets, '69 Strat pickups, custom two-point vintage-style tremolo, and aged knobs and switch tip.
