PRS Custom 24 10 Top with Flamed Neck in Whale Blue

PRS are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. So for 2015 they have released a bunch of celebratory guitars in their SE, S2, Core and Private Stock lines that will only be available for one year. This is their core Custom 24 model updated with new 30th anniversary birds, truss rod cover and 85/15 pickups.

Made In Maryland

Like all USA PRS guitars this has been made in their Maryland factory which mixes traditional luthiers and machines to make a guitar to the highest quality every time while still keeping that personal hand made touch. Made with a Mahogany body and Maple neck that have been topped with some beautiful figured maple and rosewood respectively. This guitar has a sound unique to it with a focused midrange that cuts you through the mix without sounding muddy.

The Neck on this guitar has been cut to what PRS call a 'Pattern Regular' shape. This is slightly thicker than their now more common 'Pattern Thin' neck but it is still not too chunky. More vintage in feel than the thin version this feels great in the hands for big chords and even bigger bends.

30th Anniversary Parts

In recent years PRS have started creating a wider range of pickups all based on vintage style PAF pickups but with modern twists to make them more suitable for the modern guitarist. THis year they have introduced the new 85/15 pickups that focus on providing the best pickups for the modern guitarist. When compared to other pickups like the 58/08s and 59/09s these pickups have impeccable clarity with extended high and low end to make sure you can get the tone you want every time you plug it in.

The 30th Anniversary does not end just at the pickups though with this guitar also having some cool visual updates as well. The biggest change comes with the new 30th Anniversary inlays that have a more solid look to them than the inlays we see on regular models. The other change is that the truss rod cover has been replaces by a 30th Anniversary plate to show off the celebration.

One Off Finish

You may have realized that there is something truly special about this guitar. That is the fact that this finish is a one off and has no real name. Dubbed 'Fire Red Smokeburst'. This limited finish may not be available again after this. If you like this finish make sure you get your order in quick as this guitar will not be available again.

Second To None Hardware

Not many companies can say that they have spent so long getting their hardware just perfect. PRS are one of the few that can the PRS Tremolo and Phase III Locking tuners work together to keep the guitar in tune no matter how extreme you go. Even if you go full on Hendrix this guitar will still stand its ground.
