You'll love this if you're a guitarist who wants their guitars to have an incredible look and design with unmatched sound and playability. Nothing is left to chance at PRS. Every guitar they produce has been meticulously crafted and every part thought through. This means that this guitar is not all looks, it plays great and sounds even better. The Custom 22 has been a part of their line for a few years as a modified version of their flagship model the Custom 24.
Starting With The Woods
Made with a mahogany body that has been topped off with a beautiful piece of bookmatched flame maple and a stunning Violet finish. The neck has been carved to their pattern thin shape which is a little bit smaller than usual so getting around this guitar in incredibly easy. Even shredders will get along with this guitar no problem. You will be hard pressed to find a guitar that combines beauty and playability like a Custom 22.
The Difference Of 2 Frets
Although 2 frets less may not seem like a big change to make to a guitar by taking those frets away it completely changes the sound of the guitar. Because of the neck is slightly shorter to keep the same scale length and tension you need to take the bridge to further back. This then makes a bigger gap between the neck and bridge pickups. While the bridge pickup will still sound the same the neck pickup takes up a darker tone giving you a greater variety of sounds over the Custom 24.
The PRS Hardware
Delivering that distinctive PRS sound in this guitar you have a set of 58/15 pickups, this guitar has a smooth midrange that is clear and cuts through the mix. You will not find a bad pickup selection with the 58/15 installed. Nothing sounds like a PRS and not many others can claim the versatility of a PRS Custom 22.
They couldn't just leave it there though so all across this guitar you will find top notch hardware that is exclusive to PRS guitars. The PRS tremolo features high quality brass saddles that have a particular resonance that you do not get with other materials. When combined with the PRS Phase III locking tuners this guitar will simply not go out of tune. You can go full out Hendrix levels of crazy and it won't budge.
