The PRS Custom 22 is one of the most popular guitars in the Paul Reed Smith lineup thanks to its iconic style and wide range of tones with the incredible 57/08 pickups that have been loaded into this guitar and some engineering genius that made the best out of them. The Custom 22 has been a part of the PRS range since 1993 and had one or two unique differences to other models that generally used 24 frets rather than 22.
Made with a Mahogany body that has been topped with some incredible Figured maple giving this guitar a classy high end feel and aesthetic, as soon as you see this you can tell it is a quality instrument. It also has a great quality Mahogany Pattern neck with a rosewood fretboard. This is a tried and tested selection of woods that have been a part of some of the most popular and iconic guitars around the world as it gives you a versatile guitar that suits a wide range of genres.
Deeper, Warmer Neck Pickup
Thanks to the 22 fret neck the Custom 22 has a slightly deeper lower end on the neck pickup than on something like a Custom 24 due to the neck being moved in 3/4" and the bridge being moved back to create a bigger gap between the two pickups. The short version is because of the way this guitar has been engineered you get a bigger difference in tone between the bridge and neck pickups.
This model comes with the 57/08 pickup set that aims to give you the most accurate PAF pickup sound possible by using wire from the time when those iconic pickups were made and also using the actual machine that wired them all those years ago.
High Quality Hardware
Every single part of this guitar has been looked over meticulously and made out of only the best components available. The PRS Tremolo and PRS Phase III Locking Tuners have been made specifically for these guitars and work with each other perfectly to keep your guitar in tune even with some crazy Hendrix-esque tremolo action.
Stunning Maple Top
When a lot of people think of PRS they immediately see incredible figured maple tops with incredibly intricate stains that show off every single curve in the high grade maple. This Custom 22 is no different offering up a cracking flamed maple top with a Black Gold paint job that looks classy without being too in your face.
