Jackson Pro Soloist SL2M in Snow White
The Jackson Solist has always been a guitar made for shred guitarists. They have a long history of using slim necks that run through the body fot stability and hot humbuckers that sustain for days. The new SL2M is exactly what you would expect out of a maple fretboard Soloist. Sleek and smooth with a lot of gain.
The Soloist has been one of the most popular body shapes in the metal world. This comes down to its great cutaways that give you superb high fret access and the neck through design that increases the sustain and overall stability of the instrument. This one is no different and still features all of these great advantages that Jackson are well known for.
Going in to a bit more detail the body on the SL2M is made out of Nato which is a lot like Mahoganny but with a slightly more pronounced midrange similar to what you get from Basswood. The neck is crafted from a single piece of Maple and is reinfoced with graphite for ultimate stability even when touring in differing environments.
Jackson have spent years refining the designs of their guitars. From the body shapes to the necks and everything in between. One thing they have really nailed in their Speed Neck design with a compound radius fretboard. This slim 1 Piece Maple neck is so nice to play on and it buttery smooth for high speed leads yes still rounded enough to feel great when playing large open chords.
Seymour Duncan Pickups
Seymour Duncan pickups are known for their versatility. Even their heavier sounding pickups still sound great when dialled back and used for blues, rock etc. The Duncan Distortion is the original hot rodded humbucker made for the rock and metal crowd. Using a Ceramic magnet and wound to 16.6k output this is a real beast that sustains like mad man but you can still put a leash on it and dial it back for cleans and crunches.
Here's what Jackson say about the SL2M
Standing head and shoulders above the rest in a crowded field of "me too" instruments, the Pro Soloist SL2M is a highly engineered shredding machine. Jackson created the high-tech guitar, and our DNA and legacy shine brightly in this easy playing, gigantic-sounding guitar. Striking aesthetics, versatile tone and the pinnacle of advanced guitar craftsmanship unite in the SL2M.
Chosen specifically for their complementary sound, a pair of Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups drives this guitar's versatile sound-a T6-6 Distortion bridge pickup and SH-6N neck pickup combine for flexible tone, with plenty of output for crisp cleans and snarling distortion. Master volume and tone controls shape the pickups' output, which can be further refined with the three-position blade pickup switch for the precise voice you need to bring your musical vision to life. Make your playing dive and soar expressively with the Floyd Rose FRT-O2000 double-locking tremolo bridge which is recessed for your pick hand comfort and provides laser-accurate intonation and ultra-stable tuning when combined with the Floyd Rose R3 locking nut. The 12"-16" compound radius maple fingerboard is designed for highly technical lightspeed playing-more curved by the nut for comfortable chording, it flattens out as you move up the neck for increasingly fast playing speed and wide bends without fretting out. The ergonomic Soloist body shape is designed for player comfort and increased balance, eliminating the dread "neck dive" that has brought many a headstock to a sad, untimely end.
Jackson has a history of adding striking style to its high performance instruments, and this axe is no exception. The brooding black nickel hardware wears well, refusing to show the rigors of the road it may encounter while the durable gloss finish, piranha tooth (small shark fin) neck inlays, single ply neck binding and Jackson's signature pointed 6-In-Line headstock establish this instrument's unmistakable pedigree. The ideal instrument for soaring leads, squealing pinch harmonics and chunky palm-muted riffage, the Pro Soloist SL2M is a more-than-worthy competitor in the musical ring.
