Built in the UK, Gordon Smith have been making amazing, no-frills guitars since 1974. The GS1-60 is a pure, Junior-inspired single-cut guitar, providing punchy punk-style tones with its powerful P90 pickup.

Junior-esque Tones

Despite featuring a single P90 bridge pickup, you can get a whole range of sounds from the GS1-60. Producing a strong, mid-focused tone, this guitar lends itself well to anything from punk, hard rock and even blues.

You can use the volume knob to remove some grit if you’re running through an overdriven amp, and turn it down for a cleaner and more organic sound (perfect for rhythm playing). But always crank it up all the way up when it’s time to solo!

Use the tone control to cut some high-end treble from your sound, if playing through something like a bright-sounding Fender-style amplifier.

Simple Construction:

The GS1-60 might look simple and basic, but you can be assured that you will get a well-built instrument that will serve you for many years to come. Its single-cutaway design and wrap-around bridge gives you that classic old-school 50s vibe, catching the eye of anyone in the audience with good taste (and memory!).

The P90 is a bright and sometimes harsh-sounding pickup, needing to be balanced with the right tonewoods. This is why Gordon Smith have used a Tulipwood body and a rosewood adorned neck, serving as a great foundation for the pokey P90. As typically dark and warm-sounding tone woods, any brittle top-end from the P90 is tamed, so that you get a balanced tone.

The GS1-60's set-neck construction provides a solid and resonant sound. This makes the guitar feel robust and also provides you with more sustain and warmth, especially with a fat neck profile.

You also get a free Gordon Smith gig bag, so take this amazing instrument with you anywhere!

Here's what Gordon Smith have to say about the GS1-60 Heritage:

The GS1-60 was first introduced in the mid 1980s, with our classic single-cut design. Each guitar is made from a 44mm thick single-piece tulipwood body and single-piece set neck featuring the unique Gordon Smith tone pocket. Each homewound Gordon Smith P90 is made on the same machine and to the same specification as the 1974 originals. When combined with our unique GS tone circuit this deceptively simple guitar is super flexible.

Every Heritage guitar is hand-built by a team of highly skilled luthiers using individually selected tone woods at our workshop in the heart of England.
