ESP LTD SN-1000W In Charcoal Metallic
While ESP may be mainly known for creating incredible high gain focused guitars that please lead and rhythm players all over the world they do have a softer side. Originally only available in Japan the SN or Snapper series takes a traditional 50's double cut guitar and updates it with modern playability and a versatile range of tones. This model in particular tries to stay close to the original while still offering the great build quality and playability that has only come about in recent generations of guitars.
Built on a classic design this guitar features an alder body and a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard this guitar feels a lot like its inspiration. Where it separates itself slightly though is in the fit and finish of things like the neck because ESP couldn't completely let go of their more modern designs. So this guitar has a slightly thinner neck with an unfinished maple fretboard that will never get in your way so if speed is your goal this is really worth a look.
Now no LTD of this level could ever be complete without a set of solid hardware that could stand up to anything you would throw at it. While other models have opted for Floyd Rose tremolo systems this one has a bit more of a vintage vibe with the very cool Wilkinson VSVG tremolo system. This gives you even more of that classic 50's feel but with tuning stability that you can only get with the best of modern tremolo systems
Seymour Duncan Pickups
So this guitar has the vintage look, and vintage feel but does it have the classic sound that everyone is looking for? In short...yes. ESP have tested out many different pickups over the years in the development of the SN-1000 and at the end of the day they chose a strong set of Seymour Duncan pickups. With a Custom 5 in the bridge and a pair of SSL-3 sitting in the middle and neck slots this guitar has an old school tone but with a bit more heat under the hood to give you a bit more versatility.
