The ESP LTD MH-400 is a sleek, nimble S-type kitted out with seriously top specs – including a pro quality pair of EMG 81 and 85 active humbuckers pumping out powerful tones.
Construction
ESP MH guitars are minimalistic in design, ensuring nothing gets in the way of your ability to play fast. Set seamlessly through the flat mahogany body is a smooth maple neck in ESP's trusty extra thin “U” pattern filling out the hand. On top is a flat pau ferro fretboard embedded with 24 extra jumbo frets, bringing the M-400 up to ultra modern standards.
You can't go wrong with the hard tail bridge matched up with Grover tuners, granting access to extreme trills and divebombs while retaining solid tuning stability.
Sound
By now the EMG 81/85 pickup set could be considered a classic. Perfect for rock, metal and crushing distortion in general, you'll get a tight low-end and aggressive attack with these active humbuckers. What's slightly surprising to most is how good they sound through a clean amp tone – they're smooth and impressively articulate.
